How do i get rid of the oil cooler, drain the fluids and plug the ports?

You don't need to plug anything, just re route your heater hoses straight to the water pump. you will have to find a GT threaded insert for the block if you get rid of the cooler, or you can just leave the cooler on and leave the coolant openings in the cooler open.

what's this? I never did that.

Dude.. if you already have it on, then leave it. its a pain to remove it, and it helps your oil temps quite a bit. Just dent the tube in. If you really want to remove it, you will have to remove th water pump pulley, tubes, cooler, etc. Just leave it.

This is incorrect, it's total cake to remove it. You unscrew the oil cooler from the block and screw on a GT oil filter. Buy a small coolant line and hook it up where the old coolant lines were and you're done. I've heard it should have been called a coolant heater more so than an oil cooler. I'm glad mine's gone, good riddance.

LOL ok so deleting it would make the space, What size be do you guys use? mines is on but I wish it fit a lil more snug.

i've got a smog delete pulley and removed my oil cooler, i hated it, waste of space. i just reused my threaded oil filter bung or whatever it is. i run the GT size oil filter now too. i believe it's much better than that tiny cobra filter. i talked to DSS about this too and they said also to just remove it that it wasn't really needed for my purposes (which are drag racing and DD). if i road raced maybe but would be smarter to use a different oil cooler. i say delete it, but it's just my opinion.

you don't need the GT oil filter thread part, the filter goes right on after you remove the oil cooler...

Onyx said it right. I just took mine off like 2 weeks ago. all you do is pull the coolant tubes and get some gt heater hoses in place of the cobra ones. REALLY SIMPLE. then just take the cooler off and there is a threaded insert already in the block. You dont need to go get a new threaded insert!!!

I have a delete pulley for my smog pump. The AC is still in place but all that is coming out this spring. I think w/ both deleted you can run into belt issues as far as routing or belt size. With one deleted and the other running a pulley there should not be any issues.

I have both mine deleted..... and i have a belt on my engine

+1, after looking at mine, you will NOT need a bung for the block. Regardless, keep it. There is a reason why SVT designed and put these on- cooler oil temps.

Not at all. What you do is take some twine or something simliar and run it around the pulleys in the pattern the belt will be going then tie it to hold its length. then take that to your local parts store and use their belt sizing tool to figure out what size belt the twine would convert into. then take away and inch or two from that belt length to take into account the tensioner and any slop you mighta had in the twine and there you have it. go try it and if that belt dont fit perfect you'll know exaclty how much smaller/larger you need and go exchange it for the right one

I just bashed mine in with a hammer until it would clear the belt. I used a 89 3/8 inch belt for mine. But if i could do it again I would use a delete pulley.
