I have an all stock 95 mustang GT. I remember when I first got the car I could rev it around 4500 rpms and the exhaust would make that ear shattering thunder like noise. It was beautiful! I've gone over my cats more than likely being broken down and clogged, and the exhaust no longer sounds fierce in anyway.

So I figure it's time to actually buy an h-pipe and restore that bit of gas mileage, and that glorious sound to my car.

It's stock headers, stock h-pipe, stock catback, with the mufflers cut out and replaced with trickflows.

My questions are, being that I know little of exhaust, are there h-pipes that will simply bolt in inbetween the headers and catback. What would I be looking for, suggestions, would it be worth my wild?

I also live in a county where there is no emissions testing, just state inspection (Bell County, Texas). So this shouldn't be a worry if I go catless, correct?

I'm looking for an easy install, unbolt, and bolt in. Does it require any kind of gasket inbetween?

any help is appreciated since I want to order the part as soon as I get back from NY on tuesday/wednesday.

you can got with an o/r H or X. your choice there.
No gasket needed but you will needd to do something with the smog pump hose. usually just cut it and splice in a piece of hose with 2 hose clamps.
The o/r mid pipe will make the exhaust much louder.

Would there already be a point to connect the hose to on the o/r h-pipe or would I have to make an adapter?

alsoooo, sadly smog is important for me for now since I have no check engine light and I want to keep it that way until I can do it right and have it tuned to where it doesn't need it.

what's the price range?
It's not a bad idea, it's just unconventional, plus wouldn't I have to get two and then weld in pipes where the cats are?

Isn't it better to pair the cut outs with a full pair of true straight pipes?

in addition to wouldn't I see a loss in torque?

Search your local CL I picked up my bassani o/r x for 75... Not having the pipe hooked up wont row a CEL... The o/r pipe on stock mufflers sounds pretty good also.

Kits vary in price depending on quality/design/size. I think mine were about $300 for the parts. Not sure what you mean about putting them in with true straight pipes they can be installed anywhere in the exhaust line but power/sound will vary depending on location. Also depending on what/where it goes will effect power if any but I know a guy that put them on a new GTO with stock exhaust and didn't see any gains or losses.

Just look for an h or x pipe your off road versions will not have cats. Your check engine light may come on. I have a catted MAC h pipe and gutted the cats and my cel blinks from time to time. Your off road versions will give it a better throatier sound. Like said above check craigslist or ebay I'd look for mac or bassani they to me sound the best. Alittle pricier but worth it.

For the install you will need a whatever sized socket or wrench of your choosing. A jack and a way to hold it in the air. Stands, wood etc and about an hour or so of your time.

Quick tip start in the morning and lift the car up spray every bolt with wd40 of whatever, do some yard work or eat a sandwhich and then get to work

your CEL will NOT come on if you remove the cats. Ron if your CEL is coming on you have another issue. Also a lot of aftermarket pipes still have the connection for the smog tube so if that's the case you can just connect it up. What you'll want is an X or H or Prochamber for 94/95 with shorty headers, anything fitting that description should work with the stock catback and headers.

You are absolutely 100% wrong.

94-95 v8 mustangs have no catalyst monitoring.

Here's a hint, the O2 sensors are in FRONT of the cats.

buncha brainiacs around here.

I am looking at the BBK off road H pipe from BBK and sold by American Muscle for $189...free shipping. They give you a port & a new piece of rubber hose for the smog hook up. they also specifically state that it will not throw a CEL... it is aluminized steel...I read the reviews & all sounds good, two reviews said one alignment joint was a tad off but all the others said a perfect fit! (For stock headers)

I have never gotten a CEL from the o/r h pipe either. I get emission ck'd every year and I was changing out the catted h pipe with the o/r pipe twice a year and never got a CEL

its funny how stuff will act up at the worst time. Two weeks ago I had cut outs installed and it started to run really badly after that. After a closer inspection I found my power pipe was pulling away from the intake. It could not be any further from the exhaust causing the problem but I was all under the car looking for something till I finally decided to check the other end.

BBK O/R h fits with no issues. No CEL's at all.. Be warned though, the BBK O/R H vibrates(under the shifter)like a mofo if its not adjusted. It hangs lower than the stock midpipe too. Cheapest option would be to have the cats cut out and straight pipe put on

ttocs electronic cut outs don't seem viable because my exhaust is not loud. Why get them if they do nothing for me? Like, if I had loud ass sweet ass exhaust that was irritatingly loud, then I would get them. So that's a future purchase.

@the people who were *****ing over throwing CELs. First, no one was talking of o2 sensors, I was just assuming that if the smog equipment was unplugged it would throw a CEL, but if it's not going to, then good.

@the CL suggestions, Check out what I found!
