As seeing as the only Saleen piece on it from what I can see are the side stickers and maybe wing, I'm calling BS.

I would still think it was a good buy....just dont buy it thinking its a real saleen cobra, and if it is.. more the better.

A Saleen Cobra would have the Saleen bumpers would it not?

It seems like it would at least have the rear and side pieces. I can understand maybe keeping the Cobra front just to say "Hey, I'm not a standard Saleen, I'm a super uber rare Cobra Saleen". But iunno. I still call shenanigans.

judging by the fact that only 5 covertible saleen cobras were made in 97 and that they all had the regular saleen body kit
I'm going to assume that he is a faker

It may be like my car, my car had gotten sent out to Roush in '99 so it's not an Official Roush, but i do have a signed certificate of authenticity for the work they did and what not, that the previous owner gave me, but i don't go around calling it a Roush

Personally, I feel that vehicles done in that fashion are no different than any other bolt-on car. Don't get me wrong, it's neat, but it's still not a Roush. I'm not dogging you or anything because we seem to be on the same page as it but having work done by Roush/Saleen/Whoever is not the same as purchasing one of the showroom floor with a build number.

There was a Saleen Cobra in the showroom when I bought my car in 96. It had the Cobra front and Saleen sides/rear with a Vortech on the 4V. It was a Black Speedster and gave me a chubby but it was stickered at over 40k and I was young and not spending that much.
