Hey guys, let me annoy you with questions you already heard 100 times before :laughing4:
I am really new in the V8 RWD world, only drove FWD cars before, so i have couple of questions about Gears. I searched in several stang forums but didnt find exact answers to my situation.
I want to change my looooong 2.73s gears with 4.10s, i know Tire size etc. affects this aswell, my plans are to throw 275/35/18" (Saleens) on the stang and probably H/C/I. I am concerned about the Top Speed aswell, you know i live in Germany, on our Autobahns the speeds are a bit higher and at some spots i have no limit. First of all i do NOT beat the hell out of my stang on the autobahn, but sometimes in the night on a open free road i like to push it alittle, not every time though.
I heard about situations people gained Top Speed because the Engine where at a better rpm at speeds than before because the engine couldnt produce enough power at the same speed with higher Gears to fight against air drag.
My car is equipped with the 5.0 and a Automatic overdrive tranny (no daily driver), plans are like mentioned 275/35/18 Wheels, H/C/I and Gears. Would 4.10s gears the best choice? And what happen EXACTLY with my Top Speed? What 0-60 and 1/4 Mile Gains can i expect from a 2.73. to 4.10 Swap?
