While there are a number of threads involving this everyone seems to have a different problem and a different solution lol, so here goes my thread. Now this only started to happen after my car was involved in a very small hit and run that busted out my corner light and scuffed my bumper. It has now started to cut off on me randomly now, it will idle and run fine then out of no where it will just turn off, then start up fine without any problem. It happened yesterday for the first time yesterday when I was driving about 45mph, first it jerked, drove fine and then cut off as I got into a parking lot. Started up fine after that. Then cut out on me driving about 60mph, this time it didn't give any fair warning but just cut off completely. Most recent time it attempted to die while I was accelerating in 2nd from a stop but it came back after the rpms dropped to about 500?

Now some say its a fuel pump, I just recently replaced mine not very long ago and I know they usually have a tendency to buzz when they are going bad and mine doesnt buzz at all.

I read that it could be the PIP sensor or the TFI module? But I usually dont accept other forums opinions on problems, I trust the info given on this site more lol.

Sounds like a bad distributor pickup.... If you are capable or know someone capable, buy the parts and rebuild it. If you aren't just get a new distibutor at the parts store and slap it in.
When the car cuts off like someone flicked a master switch and the car is just DEAD. You can count on the dist. being the problem.

I would also check your inertia switch. Maybe see if you can trip it, then do a fresh reset.

I purchased a new distributor from Oreilly recently for $100, it was a new Richporter unit. Seems to be holding up to my abuse.

I thought about that as well, Ill check it out for sure. Not to many Oreillys around here, but Autozone has a new Duralast one for $100 that Ill probably be getting unless anyone on here as some bad info about them.

I've gotten a couple of bad remanned dizzy's in the past. You'll know pretty soon after install if it's going to be a bad one or not.
If the "new" duralast is really NEW. then go for the new one.
