Maybe you guys can help with a few problems I'm having>
1 How to you tune these cars?
2 The speedo works but o/d doesn't
3 I put the IRS with 3.55 gears out of my 03 cobra in it and now speedo is off and its a a/t
4 Have trouble starting unless fuel pump cycles completely then sometimes it seems loaded up
5
Rear main seal was leaking and I replaced it but after couple weeks it started leaking again

I know that seems like alot of problems, but I want to start tackling them one by one before summer any help you guys have would be appreciated.

Thanks

1. The only way to tune them is manually by adjusting the timing by turning the distributor. IAC is adjusted by the little screw on the top of the TB.

2. O/D gears break often. They are in the instrument cluster themselves. 50resto.com sells the gears that strip out.

3. You need a speed cal to adjust for the different gear ratio. You can buy those from most any mustang parts dealer

4. 5.0s are well known for not starting up or dying the first time you start them up. I usually pedal it for a second and let it get going then it will run just fine. You may very well have a bad IAC though.

5. Check your PCV system, as a clogged PCV filter will stop any amount of crankcase ventilation. Your motor may also have blow by and be causing the oil to come out by force. However leaky rear mains are a well known common thing on 5.0s.

Speedcals dont work for 5.0's I believe it is the 23 tooth white gear you will need for your tranny speed sensor. I have the same problem with starting unless i do the key on and off acouple times. I think its just the pump getting weak.

speedometer gear
speed cals work for 5.0 mustangs.
speed cal I found out only works on manual trannys and the gear I needed according to 50resto is the black gear 21 tooth I think, also the automatic tranney was replaced before I got the car and I believe they put the wrong gear in speed sensor then, because it was off 5-7 then before I put the 3.55 IRS in it. With the 3.55 IRS,its 15-19 off so after I get the gear from 50resto + the repair gears for O/D we'll see what happens,I wish I could use my SCT Pro Racers Package Software & tunners to change speedo. I'll let You guys know how it turns out heres some pics of stangs>
thanks
