Hey guys. I joined this forum because I recently acquired a 95 mustang. My plans are to put a Nationwide series Roush Yates engine in it, which I've had for about 6 months because I didn't have anything to put it in. I'm wondering how far I'm gonna need to go with suspension upgrades. I thought about doing a 4 link with tubs since I'm looking for a street-strip setup but I'm wondering if I even need all that. The engine dyno'd at 810 HP / 550 TQ. Thanks in advance.

Don't those engine buzz to like 9k lol? If so have fun with that, I don't think they will be too street friendly, just my .02. Will be a badass ride though that's for sure.

Didn't someone just post pictures of a car with a Nascar engine in it?

Technically the stock setup is a 4-link. You might want to get in contact with Maximum Motorsports for what setup would work best considering most members here don't have to worry about holding that much power. Def would recommend putting a nice set of subframe connectors and a cage in it so you don't twist it like a pretzel.

Yeah it'll rev pretty high that's for sure. haha. Basically this car would only be driven in parades and stuff or maybe like once a month to town; that's all the street it'd see. The rest would be on the track. I had planned on basic stuff like subframe connectors and a cage. And yeah I looked at Maximum Motorsports's stuff but I didn't know if I really needed to go for a $2500 suspension package. But hey if it needs it what choice do I have? haha. But yeah thanks for the info. Keep it coming.

at 800 HP you're going to need alot of attention.
TQ box reinforcements, sub frame connectors (at that power level, i suggest going with a custom "through-floor" design), rear control arms, and I'd suggest some form of cage as well.

You can skip alot of the front suspension, but if you have deep pockets, throw on a k-member that offers a engine-relocation option.

800hp and 9K RPM in a parade car??? Awesome. :) Is that just incase soneone in a unicycle wants to race? Maybe a horse cariage?

I'd just make sure your driveline can handle the power. Whatever trans, driveshaft, and rear end, build it like fort knox. Replace the worn out bushings everywhere with some poly stuff and go. Your tires will save your suspension because there's no way you'll get traction in any gear at any speed if you hammer down.

If your going to be doing mostly drag strip with the car I would get in touch with Dave @ Team Z motorsports about the suspension. And btw I love the idea of putting that engine in a stang. One day in the future I will be able to go with a cleveland style head on a 9.2 deck. Start a build thread when you start getting some progress done on the car.

Haha yeah I totally want to race every clown on stilts!!! No I just always remember as a kid the loud drag cars that went through and I think it would be a cool thing to do ESPECIALLY since I'll have electric exhaust cutouts. That made me think about mufflers...hmmmm. But anyway, I'm going with a NASCAR transmission (4 speed toploader style), custom driveshaft, and definitely a 9" rear for strength. I'll be sure they are all built. And yeah I hear you about the lack of traction. I'll have to learn how to drive all over again. haha

And thanks for the recommendation. Yeah I'll definitely start a build thread when I start putting it together. I'm a college student at NC State so I probably won't be messing with it much until this summer. But the first step is get the motor and transmission in the car so it'll actually run and move. Then I guess I'll start on suspension with subframe connectors and a cage. Maybe I'll get some traction starting in second gear and easing into the throttle. haha
