hey all. i'm about to do an engine swap by putting a 98 2v into my GT. i was just wondering if there is any complications (fuel/cooling/electrical systems) when swapping from a 96 2v. i do have the 98 CPU.

also, will romeos directly swap into a car with a windsor? i'm swapping the T-45 transmissions as well.

thanks!

as far as bolting up, its a direct i mean DIRECT swap. Keep your 96 fuel rail incase you ever need/want to replace your fuel pressure regulator...the 98 pressure regulator doesnt bolt off of a 98 fuel rail. I know the fuel system is different even though it will bolt right up, someone has to chime in on this, maybe just keep the 96 ecu and it will be fine? I dont know or sure

Its a direct swap, keep your ecu and rails etc... don't use the 98's. The only real difference between the 2 is the 98 has slightly better heads than 96. If i was going through the trouble i'd find a 99-04 and swap that in. Just as easy and 40 or so more hp.

what about the difference with the fuel pumps? isnt the 96 diff then the 98's? Wouldnt it be better if he kept the 96 tank and pump? Oh and i have complete assembled pi heads and an intake if you want them. I havent been able to sell them yet.

Lol that's what I was thinking. Hopefully something went wrong with the '96.

not as pointless as it seems guys...

my 96 engine is gonna need rebuilt. the rings are worn and it's blowing smoke with acceleration.

and the 98 engine and tranny was FREE. my grandpa is parting out the car and gave it to me. you can't beat that!

and i've heard the 98's are when they started the returnless fuel system...i know this is true for the sohc but what about the dohc?

thanks JD, but i already bought nonPI comp cams and valve springs, or else i'd be all over that!

and i believe ford made some 2001 GTs available with either the TR3650 or T45.
