OK a few of you know whats been done to my car from my thread over at Modded Mustangs, but for all of you who don't here is a quick run down of what has happened to this Cobra. I purchased a 95 V6 auto back in April of 08. I stuck over $1200 in parts into the Mustang to make it run how it should. Shortly after this I came across a 96 Cobra that was crashed. I purchased the car for around $2000. The car was a total loss and had no title so the plan was to swap everything over. I took every part I could off the Cobra and swapped it over to the V6 (Engine, Transmission, Rear End, Wiring, Suspension, Exhaust, Radio, Fuel Tank/Lines, Rims/Tires, etc.) and sold the rest. I was going to swap the interior over also but because the Cobra was a convertible and the other car a coupe a lot of the parts did not swap over. I drove the car for about a year and left it like it was.

Then this past winter I was hit by another car. The car was badly damaged on the passenger side and needed a new door and fender. The insurance company sent me $2000 for the damages. I was able to pick up a used door and fender for $150 and when I went to pick it up also picked up a black leather interior minus airbags for $300. When i got back to town i was able to find a set of airbags for $200 and finish off the interior. I sold what I had left of the old interior and misc. parts from the other door and made a couple hundred bucks. Then I called up a friend to get the door and fender painted which led me to having him paint the entire car and me getting a cobra front bumper for it also.

Since then the car has not changed much. About a month ago the car started to act up, I began to leak oil and power steering fluid and began hearing weird noises from the transmission. After a little while the 5th gear syncro became worn and would have a hard time going into 5th gear. Then all of a sudden the clutch pedal became really stiff and the car would randomly shut off. After doing some research and looking inside the bell housing i found out that the car was upgraded at one time to a Center force clutch kit. The one thing the owner before forgot to do was order the specific throw out bearing for this clutch kit. This bearing didnt last long and basicly exploded after 4k miles of use.

After finding out about this I decided to save up some money and put the car under the knife once again. I ordered a new throw out bearing, shocks, struts, quad shocks, rack/pinion rebuild kit, power steering pump rebuild kit, all 3 power steering lines, sychros, sway bar bushings, oil cooller o-rings, lowering springs, motor mounts, and a faceplate for the radio from the cobra.

I have also been thinking about straight piping the cat back, rear wheel spacers, having the rims refinished, having the engine bay painted when i remove the engine, doing a a/c delete, emissions delete, abs delete, hiding some wires, moving the battery to the trunk, moving the coil packs to the back of the engine, moving the radiator forward more and moving the coolant overflow tank, removing the wiper fluid tank, and a few other misc. things.

Today I began tearing into the Cobra once again! I was able to get the Bumper, Fenders, Inner Fenders, Headlights, Header Panel, Intake, Battery, Battery Box, Wiper Fluid Tank, and some other misc. items removed. I was also able to get the radio from the cobra installed but i am still waiting on the faceplate to arrive from California.

Sounds like a great plan. Have you looked into converting to the later coil on plug ignition? That will clean your look up for certain.

I have but from what I have heard the COP is a bad idea due to reliability, I have not had any issues with mine, just want to clean it up, and on top of that money will be tight and a lot is going to other parts.

UPDATE 11/17/2011

Today me and a friend were able to work on the car for 7 hours! We were able to get the h-pipe off. WHAT A PAIN!!!! One of the bolts to the manifold is almost impossible to get to, it took more time to get the one bolt off then the other 9! We got a lot done though. We pulled the h-pipe, driveshaft, quad shocks, shocks, struts, springs, sway bar, and drained the power steering system. We ran into a few surprises along the way. We found out both my front springs had the bottom coil broken off. and one of the 02 sensors was bent and broken from the accident the cobra had before the swap.

Yeah I wasnt feeling the wheels tailights or the advanced auto special exhaust tip haha jk!

Haha ya sorry that was before, it's way different now! try the second link, I changed it. But no new really interesting updates. Today I just worked on the trunk area. I had some wires hanging down so i decided to gut the trunk and clean it up a little more before i decide to throw the subs back in it again.

You wouldn't if you knew how bouncy this mother is lol.

Haha mine was like that too! I had 2 broken springs, the quad shocks had no rebound, and the shocks/struts had little rebound also. I have new kyb shocks/struts/quad shocks along with lowering springs, It should help a lot :)

UPDATE 11/19/2011

I really didnt do much on the car due to working 6 hours today but my faceplate came in the mail today. It looks really nice and should make it sound a little better compared to my old radio that was almost 6 years old. I have not been able to hear it yet because the battery is taken out, the subs are out of the car and the amps are not hooked up because i wanted to reroute the wiring for a cleaner look. But here's how the new radio looks.

UPDATE 11/22/11

I havent been able to work on the cobra as much as I would like due to work and school but I was finally able to work on the car last night. I got all the wiring in the trunk cleaned up and mounted all my crossovers and tweeters. It was too late to get a decent picture so when I get back from seeing family on monday ill try to get a pic up on here. The system sounds great! Now I just have to find a iPod to use with the stereo. I have still been trying to find a set of lowering springs, I can get a set of Ford Racing C-Springs in town or a set of Eibach Sportlines for around the same price, what do you guys think of either of those?

I like how low the Eibach Sportlines makes cars but it gives it a fairly rough ride and idk really know anything about the Ford C-springs

UPDATE 11/29/11

This weekend I ordered some more parts, some Cobra Engine decals for the bottom of the hood, some sway bar end links, sway bar bushings, and O2 sensors. Yesterday I was able to get working on the car again, I pulled the sway bar end links, radiator, power steering pump, and steering rack. When I removed the steering rack I found something I was not expecting. The motor mounts became so worn out that the engine had dropped down enough to cause the oil pan to rub on the steering rack. This wore down the steering rack and caused no damage to it but it also wore down the oil pan causing it to get thin enough to cause a crack in the oil pan. I think I will be able to just weld it up. So this means the engine will be pulled for sure and I will be able to paint the engine bay if I have enough time. After finding out the engine needs to be pulled I started to disconnect electrical connectors, fuel lines, vac lines, and ground cables. I got almost everything disconnected. All that's left is 2 heater hoses, clutch cable, and the a/c compressor and it is ready to be lowered out.

Today I had a lot of things around the house to do and I didn't want to start pulling the engine and run into a problem and have to stay up late getting it out so I decided to rebuild the power steering pump. The kit I got for it seemed really cheap. There were o-rings that were thicker then factory and were difficult to get seated. When I got it all back together it was really hard to turn and made a grinding noise. I know this isn't right, has anyone else had this problem? I took it apart 2 times and looked everything over and it seemed to be fine, it turns fine until I install the retaining ring on the back of the pump. Then it becomes really tight and makes grinding noises.
