Whats going on fellas! So I have a small problem and it recently has been a bit annoying for me. First off let me tell you about this car. I recently got back from deployment in May, and while on leave I bought this 97 Cobra with 103xxx miles for $4500 back home in California. Not a bad deal right? I drove it all the way back to Ft Carson, Colorado with no problems. This is actually my third Mustang I've owned (my previous two I had to sell because of money issues in high school).

However, this beautiful Cobra was a salvaged title and was involved in a minor accident by the previous owner. It is missing the passenger airbag and the front bumper looked funny because it wasn't aligned right. Take a look at the front bumper where the Cobra emblem is.

As you can see the front bumper is hanging at least 2 inches down from the hood (I know, I should have taken more pictures). I figured out that the plastic piece that holds the front bumper down was actually cracked. Not a big deal, so I bought a brand new plastic piece for a good price and decided to replace it.

During the removal, we found out that most of the rivets were missing. If you can see the right side of the Cobra emblem the whole plastic piece was gone! Other than that, the swap was very straight forward and easy. It took my buddy and I about 20 mins to unscrew everything and check out the damage. I had a picture of the trashed plastic piece, but I can't find it. It was cracked in three places.

The finished result:

You can see theres still a small gap. It didn't bother me at the time because it looked a lot better. Fast forward about three months, I came back to Colorado. She made it with no problems.

But recently its still been bugging me, especially when I see other SN-95s around and there is little to no gap between the hood and bumper. Heres an example:

And here is my Cobra

Its really bothering me. What do you guys think it is? Am I overreacting or is there another piece of the bumper that I need to align? Any ideas/input is welcome.

i think its a combination of your hood not completely laying down, and it looks as if you dont have the white foam behind the bumper. when i relaced my front bumper i used strong duct tape (yea duct tape) to pull the white foam up on the bumper brace to give my bumper a little lift. it actually has worked great. closed the gap in my bumper/hood.

do you have any side pics. specifically where the bumper meets the fender.
Is the rad support straight?
What was involved in the fender bender?

I can take some more pictures. But the radiator support is straight, nothing seems out of place. And yes, the previous owner said he rear ended a car in traffic. Since the air bags deployed, he must have been going a little fast. I'll post side pics in a little bit

any pics on how those fogs mount up?

I don't have any pics, but I'll try to get some.

But Tony, that is a BIG difference. I'm gonna get that piece and see if that makes a difference. I hope it does. And your car looks real good from what it was before

It is not just the bumper, the lights don't fit right and the gap on the fenders is to wide. IMO you have more damage than you think. If he rear ended somebody the car probably nosed down under the other car and bent something.

Actually it doesnt rub, there is a lot of free play. I can put my finger under that and move the headlights up. The headlight is missing one of the adjustment screws. I've been kinda busy latelhttp://sn95forums.com/member.php?8290-uncltrvlnmatty and haven't gotten around to getting the proper screws.

and http://sn95forums.com/member.php?8290-uncltrvlnmattuncltrvlnmatt, are you talking about the headlights?

yea if you have some decent space undeer the headlights you should be able to get the foam and may be able to adjust it lik i did and it should close the gap enough. along with maybe adjusting the hood a tad, prolly will make it about perfect.

That's what I'm gonna do this weekend. I'll update with pics. Hopefully that's the only problem. I use her as my daily driver and don't like leaving my car at body shops. Thanks again for your input guys
