1999 cobra, with a full ac charge....

WHen the controls are switched to MAx ac sometimes it will come on and work fine, then other times it will blow regular air for a bit then switch on when it wants? I drove for an hour yesterday with it on max AC before it decided to start blowing cold.. and when it does it will freeze you out o the car.

Is there a switch or something that could be going bad?

There's a clutch switch and the clutch itself could be bad. But Rick nailed the problem, it's the clutch.

but it works fine and make no noise when it works? it cycles like it is supposed to when it is blowing cold. it just doesnt always cut on immediately when I cut on the switch. Im not buying the clutch being bad, it works exactly like it should when it finally comes on, and it ran for another 8 hours with no issues at all. I would have to say its the switch. Is it replaceable?

Yes the switch is replaceable, I think it's about 40 bucks, it's technically called the pressure sensor switch, and it's inline on the lines.
