Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone on here has any ideas. My dad recently bought a 97 v6 that he was going to put a 289 into, but the problem is the car was hit in the front end and the airbag light won't go out. He's changed all sensors, replaced the computer, and even changed out the wiring harness and the dang thing is still lit up! There is no frame damage on there was only minor body damage which he repaired, but the hit was just enough to set off the airbags. Anyone with any info?? I'm open to almost any suggestions at this point. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Just a stab in the dark here, but, we had a 2004 Chevy Colorado at work that was always throwing an airbag light. Turned out that it was the female portion of the drivers seatbelt that was defective and causing the light to come on. Just a thought.

if the light is functional, wait for it to start blinking and count the blinks, it's throwing a code and if you look that up (google :)) you'll find what isn't working right pretty quickly...

Hey guys. Pretty sure the k member and the airbags are fine. Haven't really checked the passenger seatbelt though. If nothing else, might have to check on that also. So when the light blinks, you just count the number of blinks and look it up online? That seems easy enouph. We'll have to give that a shot. Hey, thanks again to all your replies! I'll let you know what I find out.

My guess would be the bag is not in there. Why did you change the wiring harness and computer. or did you put in something for the 289?

I was just lost at that because of the amount of work ha.

Not sure if it's true or not but I was told you would have to install new bags and have a dealership reset them somehow.
