So I got an alignment today, I drive off my car pulls to the right a lot. I get home and I pop the hood and both plates are adjusted the same like exactly the same. Now I don't know much about aligning tires, but I'm going to say that they screwed up. I figured they should look roughly opposite of each other.

Re: Alignment Problems, Possibly Shop Messed Up

Was the road level? If yes, then take it back and have them fix it.

I'm just afraid they have no idea what they are doing. I even have a clue what they could have done incorrectly.

Most of the shops include a print off of the Alignment specs Before and After, did you get one?
If so, post it on here.

no they didn't give me one. I'm going back tomorrow to see what if they can fix it. I'll get a print off. Honestly MM gives the numbers since I'm just looking for a stock setting they say:

Camber .6 Neg
Caster 3.6 Pos
Toe in 25 degrees

Is it okay with those numbers if I ask them to do it to that?

If I remember correctly FORD calls for 0.5 on both sides.

Re: Alignment Problems, Possibly Shop Messed Up

@Ninety : I took it to this chain place American Tire and Auto. The thing with it is that I just lowered the car and added CC plates. I didn't do tie rods and I never unbolted them to install my springs, so I don't know why they would adjust my toe position, which is mainly controlled by tie rods. They should have been stock. Honestly, I would rather not bring it back, but since they are definitely fixing this for free, I don't care. I just won't ever bring the car back to them again for an alignment for any car. I mean they have a machine for crying out loud. It shouldn't be that hard to get it right.

@Javi: When you say 0.5 do you mean camber setting?

Well this is what it was originally aligned to:

Left Side Right Side

Camber: -2.5 Camber: -.4
Caster: 4.2 Caster: 4.2
Toe: .48 Toe: -0.22

Total Toe: 0.26
Steer Ahead: .35

This is what it is currently aligned to. Does this look correct for alignment specs:

Left Side Right Side

Camber: -2.5 Camber: -1.7
Caster: 4.0 Caster: 4.2
Toe: .14 Toe: -0.15

Total Toe: 0.29
Steer Ahead: 0.00

No reason to have that much camber on a street car. Also, with MM plates, it is extremely easy to get both sides within .1 of each other. There is no reason camber shouldn't be perfect with MM plates.

As far as caster, you want as much as you can get with both sides being equal. Neither bottom plate is slid all the way back, so some caster was left on the table. Once again, there is no reason caster shouldn't be perfect. It is just too easy for them not to be.

I am wondering if your steering wheels is straight. Toe should be slightly negative; around -.1. Right side is close enough. Left side needs some work.

FWIW, I align my own car on a Hunter alignment machine. So I know a little more than most than the average bear.

Believe me, I even gave them the specifications, same stuff both times and above is what they come out with. It is amazing. I heard some good reviews about this other place from some forum people in NJ and I'll be taking my car there. I'll post the conclusions.

And yes I don't see why they should have my alignment numbers dead on especially with CC plates especially the MM ones. I didn't buy them because I thought they looked cool. I wish I could do my own car.

I'm going to install H&R super sports along with new inner tied rods, Steeda bumpsteer kit and last M/M caster camber plates. How do you align a modified suspension because the factory settings are for stock height, and the plates do not move...

What do you even tell the guy who's aligning your car because the car is semi-slammed?

Well the MM instructions give alignment numbers for the Ford preferences. Since my shop clearly couldn't do my alignment right 2x's and I gave them the spec from MM's instructions, I'm taking it to a different shop. I heard great things about the place called Reyco Auto in Fairfield, NJ. You may want to try there if you're not to far from that area. Supposedly they do a lot of 'Stangs from this other forum I'm on, so I figure they must have a decent reputation.
