I have underdrive pullies and i just did the full out delete, no pump, no lines, just a shorter belt. has worked fine and never had a problem whatsoever. i did it to make access to my plugs easier and just the overall cleaner look... cause, lets be serious here, its not gonna release much more of anything out of the motor except some real ozone killing exaust.

can you post pics?

its pretty simple javster, just take the pulley off, and cap the two lines. I'll take pics of how mine is later on today.

Even if for some reason the alternator did burn up. who cares? just get new brushes for it and put them on. When I had my truck I had to rebuild my alternator about once a month from the mud and water getting in it.

i got march underdrive pullies on my car and i took the airpump off and just ran a shorter belt its been like that for about 10 months now and no problems at all. ur only gunna burn ur alternator or P/S pump if u get a belt that barley fits on cuz its so tight..

i did the same thing on my other mustang and took off my ac to.the main reason ppl take stuff like the airpump and ac off there car isnt for that 1-2hp its for all the hoses and lines running all over ur engine bay taking up room.

Okay, unless you know someone that's done that mod and is running smoothly, I will continue to disagree. Look at the way the belt runs over the alternator now and then imagine the way it would run without the smog... It adds pressure in a place that it wasn't made to. I've seen it go wrong enough times to know that it does. And none of the three people were running tight belts.

And if you take your smog out and try to turn that pulley with the fins in place, you'll realize how much of a gain there is. Without the fins it's a free-spinning pulley.

My smog pump And ac are both bypassed on the '95, and have been for about a year and a half now... never had a problem, starts everytime, alternator is good to go... the smog pump is just chillin in the engine bay till i can get some time to cap everything off, and pull all the junk out... guess i win.

looks good... post up pics with the intake and all installed... i wanna see how much room you have with everything in the car. I'm thinking about taking all my shit out. but i've got to get a state inspection when i get back to Houston in 4 months, and i don't know what i'm going to do about that(Texas runs the car on a dyno for high speed and low speed smog)... so it's all up in the air as to whether or not i'm going to pull the smog or not... the ac will probably go sometime soon, it hasn't worked in the 3 years i've owned it. LOL

We've gutted out the internals of smog pumps before...ony reason they werent removed completely was to make the "smog police" think that everything is there and "working"....

On my friends 5L based SN95, we;ve had the alternator burn up before without the smog pump...BUT that was becuase there is a turbo sitting right next to it...too much heat?

and since the tensioner part was removed as well (downpipe), a little tight of a belt might have fubared the alternator up as well?

However, its been all fine and dandy for a while now....
