Hey everyone im stumped to as why my car keeps eating throw out bearings!! As ive posted before i replaced my clutch, flywheel, pilot bearing, and throw out bearing back in april. When i bought the car it already had a aftermarket quadrant and cable. Well a few weeks ago i ended up having replace the throw out bearing AGAIN bc it tore it into 4 pieces. After replaced everything was all good no chirping yay, so much for that a couple of days ago it started f'n chirping again and feels just like it when the other one went bad. Im confused to as why this keeps happening??????? Also when changing the throw out bearing i noticed that the input shaft had some play, is there an allowance on how much? It moved side to side and up and down not in or out!! Any help would be appreciated
thanks john

It could be that the bearing retainer. The stock ones are aluminum and can become worn, FRPP sells a steel one

I was thinking it was the retainer, and i know the TO bearing doesnt sit on the shaft as i tore the trans out twice already!!!!! I was just simply asking is there an allowance on how much play it should have or should it have none? Im new to the transmission world and just trying to get some valuable info from you guys that are familiar with transmissions. Yes i have searched the web for answers and all i can find other forums with nonvaluable info!!

The first one was a cheap one and the second one is OEM ford from the dealer. I took it to a transmission shop and they told me it could be my pivot studd where its dry, i didnt grease it. Anyone thinks that could be true?

do you have a firewall adjuster? where is your pedal grasp point? like halfway through its travel or 3/4, etc.

School me on the firewall adjuster cause i think its where i dont have it adjusted right. I looked at a buddies 2000 gt yesterday and when i pulled on the cable he had about an 1 1/2 of play between the adjuster and plastic stop hooked to the cable. Mine has about an 1/8 of an inch! So my ? is it because i keep adjusting it to tight?

If you have noise and you know you did not grease the pivot ball thats probably all it is , I have seen it 100 times in the past if you want it fixed tear it back down and replace bearing retainer with steel one even if you think its fine , and grease the pivot ball for the fork and it should be fine , the TO bearing is probably ok as well
