I've had a noticeable wavy/loose feeling in my steering for a while now. To where it pulls to one side then the other and back and forth. Pulls with the crown of the road as well. A slight shimmy when braking and its' a little wavy then too. also I was driving through the parking lot at circuit city tonight and went to turn into a space and heard a loud crack/pop come from the front end. (i was turning hard left) I felt it in the steering wheel and brake pedal. so I got out and checked on things and everything looked okay. I've replaced both lower ball joints, replaced the springs with bbk's, 17x9 03 cobra wheels with 245/45's, changed the passenger side strut since it was making noise (havent gotten to the driver side) and I've changed the power steering fluid and bled the system of air. What exactly would be causing this stuff? Tie rod ends? Rack? Strut?

Oh and another thing my abs light has been on and off lately. I've been feeling what feels like a hard and rough pedal. What could that be?

Again Thanks everyone in advance.. I'm going nuts with this crap.

Yea, check the rack and the inner/outer tie rod ends.

Any unusual tire wear?

Depending on the mileage, you might have the frt. LCA bushings
checked(@ the frame mounts) This made an old Z-28 of mine "wander"
just as you described.

Yeah I ordered a set of urethane bushings for the LCA's, sway bar, and end links so they should be here soon. As for checking the Rack.. how do you go about that? and inner rod ends? Thanks

To do this you would be best off to have a good alignment guy look at it.
Somebody that checks them on a regular basis and you know won't lie to you about
their condition just to sell ya stuff.

Do this before you ever put the "poly" parts in place. Then you can pay for an alignment
once and be done with it. :boink: < He's looking at your avatar, I think. Can't take him anywhere!

Quick question... well really a statement to help maybe narrow it down a bit before I talk to the guys this weekend... when I turn left all the way or almost all the way to the lock it makes a popping sound. almost like a cv joint on a fwd car but deeper.. wtf... wheel bearings wouldnt have anything to do with these problems would they?

I seriously doubt it. Wheel bearings usually whine or roar depending on speed.
Most likely a ball joint, upper strut mount or tie rod end. GT

im having the exact same problem....ive replaced the rack inner/outer tierod ends, the ball joints are stock 150k on them. New springs anr struts, sway bar links and sway bar mounts, I get this noise on both sides. Im guessing either ball joints or control arm bushings. (only two things left to replace lol). But my money is on lca bushings because the other day i was trying to figure it out and noticed that the control was getting pulled away from the frame as i turned the wheel. Either way im just going to put on ford racing control arms

Well at least I know I'm not the only one in this boat haha I have Energy Urethane bushings for my lca's and sway bar so when I get into this thing I'm just going to change the tie rod ends and stuff and probably put in a bump steer after I find out exactly what's causing my problem.. troubleshooting can be a pain in the ass sometimes haha.. good luck brother

yea my cars got a lot of miles on the body so these things need to be replaced anyway. When they make noise its just a more reason to do them.

Yeah mine has a lot of miles on the chassis too... just recently put a fresh 306 in it so just working out a few electrical demons and stuff should be kicking soon.. be real happy when I fix the damn suspension/steering..
