Well, for those of you who didnt see my thread on the 48 chevy truck im restomoding, here is an update. Instead of buyin the Mustang II front suspension, were going to drop the '48 body onto his '85 gmc s10 chassis. The kit we are buying is 1095 from http://www.ad-engineering.com/, its probably the sickest kit ive seen in a LONG LONG time. This will save us tons of money, originally to put the Mustang II IFS in it was gonna be close to 4 grand just for suspension. The cool part about this, for me at least, is that i will be doing the entire thing by myself for the most part. It will be my project at the HS. For being 17 and starting a project like this is incredible, i cant wait to get 'er running. I will be building a 350 and using an auto trans. onto a couple pics

Pretty ambitious project for someone so young. Congrats for taking on the challenge. My daughter's boyfriend has the same truck, I think, the '48.

well i did help a buddy of mine do a cordoba front end swap on his 46 ford, along w/ engine work and get that running and driving. So im not goin into it blind, but itll kick me in the pants im sure. Best part is, my gpa is funding it. I like to work and im being 'forced' to enjoy life and the auto industry...which is great

well, I got the box off today, along with the hood and a couple front clip things. The box turned out to be a pain. Could hardly get the impact on, but when i did it didnt have the juice to get em off. So i took a breaker bar to em. It felt good to get it off. Tomorrow will be the front clip, fenders, lights, grill, maybe cab if we get around to it.

looks good man, i tell ya when my father and i did my 55 it tok us 4 years to actually complete and enjoy and technically its still not done.

Thats prob a smart move with the s-10 chassis seeing as there are tons of aftermarket parts to get those things on the ground.

yea, $1100 for a 48 truck on an s10 chassis is a steal of a deal. We were lookin at like 4 grand just to get the thing rolling the other way and this way 4 grand will get it close to done

Updates for those that care, its kinda slow, but yet fast. The fenders had something like 20 bolts in them a piece, and i learned why 'J clips' are referred to as jesus clips now....the damn thing kept spinning. We finally got it out, then the fenders came off, with a little persuasion of course. I busted open 2 of my knuckles today, im sure that is just the start. Slowly but surely its coming. Radiator and such is tomorrow.

Update pics, got the cab off today, obviously. You wouldnt believe how much of a pain the E-brake cable was. When i was takin off one of the cab mounts it started spinning, but its basically a big screw. I guess it rusted at the end and wouldnt come out. We just lifted it over the mount haha

I then torched and ground off the body mounts makin the frame all smoothy smooth
DSCN0828.jpg

These next couple you can see the frame prep we did, "marine ready" to get rid of the oil and grease then "metal ready" to help it bite into the rust, the white residue you see is zinc that promotes adhesion
