How much you want to spend?

Ima jump the gun and say gears, if you want to spend more than $200..
but if you want to spend less $200, subframe connectors, they make a world of difference.

The gear ratio is how many turns of the wheels per turn of the driveshaft. Therefor, your car will be slightly quicker with the 4.10s vs the 3.73s at the expense of more RPMs at highway speeds.

I've always heard that 4.10s were the preferred choice with autos.

Yes, they will both knock some out of your MPGs.

4.10s will obviously take more with the higher RPMs than the 3.73s but gears are always and easy go-fast part.

If you're worried about MPGs, I'd start looking into suspension mods. Start off with subframes and tighten the car up.

now that we are talkin about gears it got me back to wondering. the previous owner i know for a fact was always driving in the gears 1 and 2. for it being an automatic, surely this isnt healthy on the gears.

it would in a smaller amount but its not really worth it in the long run if your looking for mild mods b/c you always have to refill the bottle. Your better off w/ suspension stuff if you want to go that route more so then gears for now

You should confirm what you presently have for gears. Lift the rear and count the driveshaft rotations for 1 rotation of the wheel. For example, if the driveshaft rotates 2 3/4 times with 1 wheel rotation the gear ratio will be 2:73:1. You never know for sure what previous owners have done until you have checked things out yourself. As to why he wanted to shift between 1st and 2nd, who knows. Maybe he just liked the idea of shifting manually.
