Evil got it. I was only half joking lol but seriously you could. On Roadkill they took a junkyard 302 with an old powerstroke turbo and made 600 hp. They can make power and be had for cheap. Sure its apples to oranges but the point is its cheap and can work on these cars. Ive toyed around with the idea a few times myself seeing how cheap it would be. Besides when you spank a coyote and tell them you have a 3.8 with a crap turbo, priceless haha.

It would be neat. You could build a forged v6 block for pretty cheap and slap a turbo on and sort it out. I wish I would have gone forged the first time around. Then again, maybe good that I didn't because of the wreck.

I think I'd rather put a blower on one...........I'm not really fond of turbos. I found a Roots type off a T-bird (I think) but I'm not sure what boost the "used" 3.8 could handle and I don't want to rebuild it. If the sixxer gives up the ghost I do believe I would put in a manual FI 351 Windsor. Looks to be lots of room and this state doesn't require any type of emissions testing.

351w is a bolt in. Obviously none of the wiring works but that’s all reworkable.

A turbo setup would be safer because it retains the stock like driveability in the low rpms when there is little to no boost, whereas, a roots type blower makes instant power essentially. In reality both would be fine as long as you dont run too much boost. But to be fair a stock sixer can take a decent amount of power before grenading.

Do you think it could handle 8-10 lbs? It's got a 145K on the clock but seems to be in good condition. I haven't checked compression or anything it just "runs" pretty good.

Your guess is as good as mine really. Dont base whether it can handle boost on mileage as mileage isnt a sure fire way of gauging the health of a motor. It all really depends on maintainence. Start with a compression and leakdown test first. If all cgecks out good then go from there based on that.

And a good tune will literally make or break a motor, no pun intended.

07gts197 states it right, its all in the tune. And i cant see 5lbs hurting much. Worse case scenario is taking the rings out or headbolts cant hold out and being a Ford 3.8l, durable as they are, i can see them holding up to some abuse.

Any recommendations on a tuner? I have a Hypertech on my Duramax and it works quite well for my application. I was considering a Predator (used older model).

That and different gears for the rear end......................

SCT has a strong foot hold into Fords. Most Ford tuners use SCT

Okay, I'll check them out........I got some of the projects done today, CAI installed, cat back dual exhaust installed, and the trans fluid and filter changed. Still need to do the anti-freeze as it has red in it and according to the Owners Manual it should have green. Is that correct?

Take your key to your local ACE Hardware store, my local one does programed keys and stands behind them when the batteries fail. I would do an Eaton 112 and spin it at a lower RPM.
Check my junk if you want a forged Modular....
