Came out to the gt a few minutes ago to go get some coffee and breakfast tacos, and the lighting out side was pretty cool so I walked around the car to see exactly how the paint looked in the light, needless to say, I noticed an assload of ants on my hood, upon closer inspection I saw that they were actualy on my bumper/ roof/ sail panels too.

Should I be alarmed? I've heard that bugs/ insects are drawn to electricity, and can ruin elecrical systems... Though I haven't been able to pin point a nest in the car, or any problem as of yet.. Just worried... These are very tiny ants, I think they are called sugar ants or something like that.

Any one know of a good way to get them out of my car without messing anything up...?

If I was completely sure that it wouldn't ruin my paint job, I'd sprinkle some 7dust on the car, and drive way... Also concidering putting moth balls in the engine compartment/ interior...

They might be attracted to the new paint. either way you want them gone or they'll be inside you car.
Lowe's sells some ant bait that works great on little suckers. But I'm having brain lock right now about remembering the name. Anyway they take it back to the nest as food then it acts like little razor blades in their stomach.
I'll ck on the name when I get home and post it up.

That's what I'm thinking, paint has a very sweet smell, and it still smells a bit in my car.

I'm gonna pick some stuff up so I hope all goes good

Ive found a few random ants inside my car before, the little red ones. I dont know if maybe I was working on the car and they got in by the parts I had on the ground or what. Crazy that you have an entire trail though, I'd start looking for a nest and a queen. lol

i had fire ants in my car for about 3 days. stepped in an ant bed walking to my car in the dark one night leaving her house. got a few bites on me asa i got down the street. beat and slapped my feet and killed what was biting me but i guess a few of them survived a few days from the heat under the rugs in the backseat..... i squished them though ;)

hose the car down in with ant/roach killer

I'm not quite sure I want to do that just yet... Don't want any chemicals screwing up my fresh paint

Terro ant bait.
It has borax in it. Find the trail on the ground and set the bait near it. Lowe's sells an inside and outside bait.
I have 1 setting under my garbage can. The ants were gone in 2 days.
