take off and install and new drivers side fender?

I bought a new one because mine's been f'd up and fixed before and it was cheaper just to buy a new one than fix this one right. It ought to be here tommorow and I'd like to tackle this myself. Any special things I need to know before doing this or is it fairly straight forward?

I'm not sure if there are any welds on the fenders or not. I would think there are somewhere on there though. Or maybe some rivets.

Maybe I can tell more once I see the unmounted fender... if it looks like too much for me, I have no problem letting the shop who's painting my car put it on. I just figured I could save some $$$ doing it myself.

It is a unbolt and bolt back in place deal. But it sucks to do. If you are getting the fender painted, let them do it. You will be pissed at yourself if you scratch it.

X2. There are 2 or 3 bolts that you have to get to with the door opened. then there are 3 or 4 on top under the hood, and i think
a couple more toward the front bumper. No welds or rivets.

If its just bolts, I'll do it. The fenders in primer so I'm not too worried about scratches haha. I'm take the WHOLE car in for a repaint after I install the fender so painting is not a worry.

Cool, I can do this haha.

go grab a Haynes/Chilton manual from the local parts store, that'll tell you exactly how to get it off. it will be well worth the $20ish. after about 5 years, i finally stopped procrastinating and finally bought one, and its helped me out way more times than i expected. you'll find plenty of uses for it, especially the answers to these kind of questions. i love having it for the stupid stuff too... i would have never figured out how to realign my decklid without looking in one of those manuals.

Man oh man was that a pain in the neck. It was missing ONE screw that goes behind the door and so it took awhile to get it lined up good. Its not PERFECT, but this is a DD, not a show car, and its plenty fine for that. cant wait for paint!!

I had one of each and both got ruined in different ways.

Oh well, it was fairly straight forward.
