I've never taken the time to notice. I know they have beeen making copies for years lol. The differences just werent ever that obvious to me. Not like how say a generic cobra rr hood with the svo scoop has a "square" scoop and kaenans has a rounded off one.....which flows much better with our round body lines.

Nice man!! Are your front wheels 18x9's? If so, how do the 245/40's fit? Not too skinny for the 9" wide wheel? I'm wanting to get different sized tires for mine, I'm not liking them too much.

lmao @ miracle... Enjoy your severely overpriced "genuine" wheels... There is practically no difference between an OEM wheel and a reproduction wheel, not anything even minutely noticeable anyway.

OP: They look great man! Get the pony lowered, STAT! JMHO, you should have gone with at least 255's on the front.. Thankfully you went with the Sumi's which do run just slightly wider than your average size.

Eh... should have said something more to the effect of "Knock off" type wheels... like this:

Genuine Ford FR500, notice the FORD Racing stamp on the lip...

FR500.jpg

And the same for the Ford GT wheels some people use...

It's not something I hate on... just love the look of the originals over the companies that take a design, and copy it.
The guy is tryin to be a dick. Regardless they are FR500s whol the hell cares who made them?

Love it dude, Machs are the only cars I like FR500s on for some reason. "fake" wheels are where it's at, they look 100x better than the real, boring ones.

Well yeah, actually there is a difference. Ford actually innovated the real versions of the FR500, and had BBS (also an industry innovator) build the GT wheels. Not to mention different manufacturing processes, materials, and the actual DESIGN.

Because when you go to a company that does NOTHING but knock off truly innovated wheels, you contribute nothing to the enthusiast hobby. In turn, when people don't contribute to the actual innovators, the companies don't make money. If the companies don't make money, they stop creating new designs, and when they stop creating new designs, the knock off companies no longer have things to make copies of. When companies like that have nothing to copy, what do you think happens?

All I am saying (because, notice, I said I wasn't knocking a person's wheel choice) is that it is better to support the companies that actually INNOVATE products and introduce them to the market, than to support a foreign company with lower standards of manufacturing, and copy a design outright. Hell, I wouldn't mind rocking a set of cheap wheels, because they were cheap, if there were a company that made their own designs. but to blatantly, outright make a COPY of something, and call it your own, and then sell it, is outright theft, there's no way around it.

Soo... Based on your logic, the first is the best and there's no way around it. Good stuff.

I'm sure Ford is more than happy that there are other companies out there that are building a massive aftermarket for their vehicles, whether they are copying a design or not. Would Ford like it more if people bought all of their aftermarket parts from FRPP? Ofcourse, but I bet that they are even happier that people buy more of their cars because of the inexpensive aftermarket parts available. Without a massive aftermarket for high-performance cars out there, how successful do you think that the car hobby would be, whether it is a "copy" or the original deal?

Now, your argument about the machining/manufacturing process being sub-standard & using inferior techniques and materials.. Can you show me one example of this? I can honestly say that I've never seen an aftermarket wheel break without being severely abused, wrecked or used in a way that it was never meant to be.

Enjoy your massively overpriced "original" wheels & parts, chances are they're practically the same product at far lower prices by the "copycat" companies.

You missed my point. I never said anything about not having an aftermarket, but rather an original aftermarket. There are tons of companies out there that create their own designs. Companies like Ford Racing, Kenne Bell, Whipple, Procharger, Fore Precision, and many other companies that do their own R&D, their own design, their own freakin manufacturing. Companies like the ones that copy other peoples true work, true innovation, companies like UPR, OE Wheels, Cruzin Concepts, and that companies that make the wheels with the ZR lookin center caps do nothing other than use other companies designs, and avoid any inkling of work and innovation short of just selling the stuff. Why SHOULDN'T people in the hobby WANT to support the manufacturers like Ford Racing, companies like Weld... Companies like Saleen... companies like Kenne Bell... Companies that invest time, man hours, countless dollars to introduce parts and products with unmatched quality?

That suspension looks awfully high for a mach 1. A previous owner didn't swap out the mach stuff and sell it did (s)he?

Maybe its just the combination of 18 in wheels and the stock mach 1 suspension that makes it look a little strange? I saw the car in person 2 weeks ago and it looks AMAZING!!! Does need a drop, but in due time my friend. :eek:ccasion14:
