I've had an auto start/alarm system just laying around in my room and my question is can you put an auto start on a manual transmission? Is there a way to bypass the clutch depress to start? It's cool if its not possible I was just wondering.

I'm sure you can, but i'd definitely figure out a way to make sure it only starts in neutral.

yes you can, but honestly not sure if you want too.

That is exactly what can/will happen if it isn't done right infact if you do a search on mustangforums-com you will see that he asked how to do the same thing and I warned him aginst it. Well he figured it out and thought he would always leave it in nuetral, always have the brake on, nobody drives his car, bla bla bla. That happend 4 months after. He threw a big fit and somehow got insurance to cover it even though he bypassed a factory installed safety device.

I have a remote start on my mustang and its a manual but this system(compustar) was designed to go in a manual. When I park the car, I have to hold the foot brake while I put on the parking brake and the system knows I am parking it, and its in nuetral and running. When I turn the key off, the motor actually keeps running(powered by the system now) until I shut my door. When the door shuts, it locks the door and arms the alarm and knows that the car is still in neutral. As long a the door triggers are not set off, it will know its still in nuetral and allow me to start it. But if I go and get back inside the car but do not start it, then it doesn't know its in nuetral and will not allow me to start it.

I don't actually want the remote Start I doubt I'd actually use it, I more or less just wanted it for the upgraded alarm system without buying a new one since I had this one laying around. And it would have just been a perk to have the remote start. Can you hook it up to where just the alarm works and not worry about connecting the remote start or does it all have to be connected for it to work?

because that ^ seems like a lot of work to go through every time I leave my car although its prolly just second nature to you now.

You can wire it up without the remote start working and use it as an alarm system. My gf's cougar is that way. It was hooked up for remote start but I took the spare key out of the system and removed the remote start crap and left the alarm system. It's just a Code Alarm system. nothing too fancy.

With a little wiring know how you should be able to rewire the remote start button to do something else like pop the trunk or something like that. Pretty simple to do.

its not any different sequence to get out of the car then normal. Foot brake/parking brake - turn off/take the key out shut the door and walk away is all the "sequence" is. The only way you mess it up is if you push the brake after taking the key out, or take your foot off the brake while applying the parking brake

With out knowing which brand/model you have, I can't say what you can or cannot do with it. If it isn't something you plan on using DO NOT hook up the remote start at the lest but unless its a really great alarm/rs you can get a basic alarm for pretty cheap these days.
