Im getting new rods and pistons for my 302. Do I need to balance the crank, rods and pistons? Or is it not necessary? I wont be reving past 6200 rpm.

Yes....everytime you add something new to the rotating assembly (crank, rods, pistons, balancer, and flywheel) you should get it balanced...

It really depends on what you are going to do with the car. If it is going to see any kind of sustained abuse, then yes it should be balanced. If it is a DD that will see no abuse to minimal abuse, then no it is not necesary to have the engine balanced. I am sure that Ford does not balance any of there engines other than the SVT cars that are hand built.

That is my opinion.

I would balance it. they make better power, and it will last longer. last I checked, it was under $200 to have it balanced.

most shops that I've ran into charge anywhere from 250 to 350 depending on whether or not the assembly has been balanced before or not.
