94 vert came with a K&N filter, flowmaster cat back. i just put a 94 cobra crank pulley on there (underdrive), cleaned the filter installed a pro50 shifter and tokico premiums at all 4 corners - 21 MPG and it feels WORLDS better than when i bought it mid january.

any other cheap / quick and easy mods to do to it?

Use the search function, a lot of stuff has already been covered.

Some free mods-
removing the air silencer
removing the weight from the front of the car

I think the basic stuff has been covered.

Bump up the timing, better air filter, good solid tune-up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air & fuel filter). That is your free upgrade.

The best bang for the buck would be gears, hands down. I like the 3.73's for both 5-speed and Automatic. Excellent gears for a car on the street that sees some track use.

If you're not doing a ton of highway driving, you might want to bump up to 4.10s. I love mine.

I'd get all the maintence stuff out of the way and get it cleaned up. Driving around in a clean stang, ain't nothing like it. Welcome to the site.

air silencer is gone, its got the conical K&N filter (forgot to mention that). Gears will stay stock for now, maybe a set of 3.73's if i find a deal i cant refuse and the 03 cobra spec upgrade for the posi. I have 4.10's in my foxbody, and i LOVE those gears! this car is going to be a highway commuter car - 75 miles one way, 150 round trip per day. so i'm looking to get the best mileage out of it as i can.

now for the timing - whats would the number be? is it 10* base? does 12* sound about right and still be able to run regular fuel? also, is there a spout connector or anything that needs to be pulled prior to setting the timing?

thanks everyone for the warm welcome! awesome site from what i've seen so far :)

If it's your commuter, I'd leave the gears stock. Actually, I'd just do a tune up, get it running the best it can stock, and leave it.

you couldnt pay me enough to spend three hours a day in a honda. if i get too close to them i break out in hives and stuff. its horrible!! LOL...

seriously though, its worth the drive for what i get paid. i bought the 94 cause i can rebuild / replace anything on the car, the parts are CHEAP compared to new cars, and it can get out of its own way. right now the 05 v6 has 86k miles on it, and if something breaks i'd be well behind the learning curve in terms of fixing it.

i was thinking this was the way to go. what about timing? anything to be had there and still use regular fuel?

what about headers / mid pipe? maybe some roller rockers?

My daily driver '95 GT has:
Edelbrock Intake/Throttle Body/CAI
Shorties
Magnaflow catted X
Flowmasters
Shifter
FR500 steering wheel
Water/Oil/Vacuum gauges
'97 Cobra wheels
3.73 gears

I commute 35 miles each day (round trip) and get about 18 mpg average. If you're driving that far, I definitely wouldn't mess with the gears.

I have
FRPP Shorties
Magna Flow x-pipe
AODE with a shift kit
Performance Distributors coil, cap, rotor and wires
Eagle Alloys 16 x 7.5 (I think that's the width) I forget the tire size
3.55 gears
13* base timing
91 octane

on a 95 GT

With 75% hwy driving and 25% city I easily knock down 21 mpg. My one tank best is 22.5. If I was a little more light footed around town and kept speeds down to 70 mph on the hwy I'm sure my numbers would at least slightly improve.

My wife has filled the tank with 87 octane and it ran fine with part throttle. Not sure on mileage though.

i'll have to play with the timing. i just found out that the spout connector is under the intake tube, so now that i know that, i'll mark the damper and set the timing at 11.

i'll probably short-shift it most of the time. i'm thinking 12 -13* should be perfect on the highway. my 90gt is for the 6k rpm pulls :)
