let me start off with my exhasut set up:
-frpp headers
-magnaflow catted xpipe (piece of crap)
-borla catback (regular)

Hate my sound. And Way too lound too, I blame
that on the piece of shit cats that are on the
magnaflow. Let me just tell you something about
the high flow cats that magnaflow uses. They are
not really cats. The sound level will be the same,
with or without them. Real cats cost$$$ not the 20$
pieces of shit on the magnaflow.

So today I went to buy a factory 2003
midpipe from some guy. He now has a bassani xpipe.
So he started his car. WOW. it had a mustang meets
ferrari kinda sound. deep but exotic. WOW is all i can say.

What Im planning to do is put the stock 2003 midpipe in my 97.
might need a little modofication. Or might cut it up after the cats
to weld the "x" part of the magnaflow. Don't know yet. Just hope
it will quiet down my exhaust. I'm sure it won't be too quiet cause
99+ midpipe only have 2 cats and 2 resonators. 94-98 have
have 4 cats(!) and 2 resonators.

If my experiment goes bad I'm gonna give the bassani a try!
I'll let you guys know what happens in a couple of weeks

interesting......ive pretty much only heard good things about the magnaflow...

anyways, 96-00 midpipes are the same, we have 6 cats. 01-04 have 4 cats. ive seen the 04 cobra stock midpipe, and the flanges are the same, only difference is the hangers, so id assume the 01-04 midpipes are the same.

i know bbk doesnt have the best reputation, but i love the way mine sounds with the catted x from them. if things dont work out for you, you can always try looking into the BBKs

IMO, you can get a great sound from a much cheaper x pipe....bassani is mucho $$, but if you've got it, then go for it!

I run Dynonax shorties and a Bassani Cat X with Borla Catback and its very mellow at idle and low RPM but sounds perfect at 2500 RPM and up. I get a lot of thumbs up :)

I belive when it comes to purchasing parts you get what you pay for.
The Bassani X pipe with or without cats is probably the best quality,
performing, sounding X pipe on the market for a Ford Mustang.
Bassani FTW!! :thumb:

we attempted to put a 03 midpipe on a 98 and it would not seal... there are slight differences at the header. You may be able to get it to work, but we couldnt no matter what we did.

My 99 stock Cobra H pipe has 4 cats.
