you'd have to crack the bellhousing first. Auto's use a flexplate.

The plate is inside the bellhousing.

On the AODE the bellhousing is a part of the transmission, it is not sperate.

Go take a look at your smog pipe. If you have a O/R pipe and someone didn't put it back on completely that could have fallen off or gotten garred loose and is causing a rattling.

its a consistant rattle, but not consistant with the idle, and it comes and goes but never compleatly goes away

and its just noisy, its not messing with the performance of the car, but i dont want it to grow into a problem

if you have converters it could be those. If it just started happening after the speed bump incident crawl under that bad boy and look for some fresh metal. You'll see exactly what contacted w/ the pavement.

Do the auto cars have a removable inspection plate covering the lower front section of the flexplate/converter? If so, remove the inspection plate & check for damage to the plate. Drive the car w/o the plate in place and see if sound persists. Could be the speed bump made contact with the bottom edge of the plate.

I had one on my '69 Road Runner that drove me insane for a while. Found that I had simply installed it backwards.
