I still have my t-5 in my 95 cobra 40,000 miles never rebuilt. I know a t-5 is only going to hold on for so long.
I have H,C,I and 100 shot. so far it's held in there with no probs, but it's just a matter of time. So my ? is what would you guy's replace it with?

I am mostly a street guy, but visit the track twice a yr. also auto-x, and plan on doing another track day. I want to stay with a manual.

Thanks, Mark.

I'd go with a Promotion T5. Handles like 440ft/lbs or something like that. Nice replacement trans with room to grow.

Find a used 3550/TKO or if you can't find anything used I would invest in a TKO 500

cobra t-5 is not the same as a regular t-5. you should have a t-5z which is as strong as a 3550. just drive it until it breaks which probably won't happen

What? Isn't the only difference with the Cobra T-5 the gear ratios and a different style bearing on the input shaft? I have broken a Cobra T-5

different gears which were rated for 30-50 more ft lb. i don't recall exactly as it has been a long time.

anything can break but i personally have driven one making close to 600 ft lb and that car was a nitrous car that was together for almost 15 years. eventually it broke 2nd but was power shifted its whole life and raced for 100s of passes with 1.5 60' times

"The Borg Warner T-5 installed on the 93 Cobra had a few upgrades to handle the extra power now made by the modified engine. Specific items include a tapered roller pocket bearing on the input shaft to output shaft. This same setup is used on the T-5Z version sold through Ford Racing. The cluster gears were also phosphate coated but this was a modification done to all V8 5.0L Mustangs in 1993. "
