Hi Guys,

I have been planning this project for some time now, and have never gotten to it with work and my road racing. I finally have some time over the winter to do an engine swap, so here it is.. :eek:ccasion14:

After 16 yrs of oil, dirt, etc. It was not a pretty sight.

you're right, it wasn't a pretty sight, you didn't even have an upper intake manifold on the engine!! haha, looks like a fun project,
what are your plans for the replacement engine?

looks like a good project! is there a reason for going with the p heads over your gt40s? Do you have headers that will clear them? just wanted to check

good luck, and have fun with it

I wanted to leave the long block alone.. and stock, plus my GT40's have a bunch of miles on them. I have a set of Hedman Long tubes that im going to make work. Mainly though, i wanted to do something different. Ive built 6-7 engines with the regular GT40's. Plus the P heads will have gobs of torque. :)

Re: Birel21y's 1994 Cobra 5.0 engine swap!!!

Here is an update:

Got the Injector harness re-covered and installed. Upper intake is on, intake elbow is on, rebuilt my POS BBK throttle body that broke, Gasket matched my exhaust ports, Passenger side long tube header is installed, i have to beat the hell out of my D/S header on the #7 spark plug-all others are fine. Pullies installed.

Re: Birel21y's 1994 Cobra 5.0 engine swap!!!

Update;

Longtubes fully installed, and heatwraped.
distributor painted and installed
Brackets painted and installed.
So basically the engine is ready to have the flywheel, clutch, bellhousing, etc put on and installed. BUT im not going to right away. My entire engine bay is going to be sanded, all small holes welded and painted. Wires ran through fenders, and carbon fiber panels covering where the battery and CA intake used to be.

Here I decided to put a special touch on the brackets. I ground down the edges on the side...

Wires on. BIG THANKS TO HEATSHEILD PRODUCTS FOR THE 2" HIGH TEMP EXHAUST WRAP! THIS STUFF WORKS PHENOMENAL!

Alright, so i was up late last night, pulling off all the body work and fabbing up my opening for the fuse panel. This space will all be covered by a carbon fiber panel.

I just finished going through my engine bay. I wire tucked everything, and painted. I made carbon fiber panels to cover the areas where the battery and air box used to be... Its nice to work for a composite manufacturer. :)

Nice work! You should definitely put a tubular k-member in while it's easy to do so with everything out of the way. It really makes things a million times easier to work on.
