the 96's GT's came with that piece as a dark gray piece of plastic there...all the rest of them came the same color as the car.

My 94 has a painted piece there. it is just a molding in the bumper, and it was painted satin black from the factory.

not from the factory...i promise you go to auto trader right now and i'll bet you every 96 GT has it in a dark gray color. the rest do not. with the exception of the 94's being in black which i just learned.

thats how you can always tell what year a cars is when looking at an SN95 GT,

94's had that piece painted with the horizontal tail lights
95's didn't have it painted with the horizontal tail lights
96's new tail lights with the piece painted
97's new tail lights without the piece painted
98's no dash clock.

EVERY 94-98 mustang has this piece. It is built into the mold. IDC what color it is, whether it's textured or not It's part of the bumper.

Yes, I'm talking about the lower piece. Why did you try and tell us the way to tell the difference between years? That's why I thought you where smoking crack or something.

was just saying that piece at the bottom is a defining characteristic between all the different years.

And I'm saying that some are painted and some are not (From the factory). I don't know how for decided to paint some and not all but I have not found a single "Factory file" picture with it painted.

and i answered that...it was the 94 and 96 gt's the 94's were painted black the 96 was painted a dark grey. The cobra's and V6's were not painted at all from the factory.

I have a 96 and it's not painted or dark gray. I'm telling you there was no rhyme or reason to any year or model having it color matched or not.
