well i was screwing around with a ws6 the saturday morning and i popped my motor...lol. not sure what exactly is wrong with it but i know enough that it needs to be replaced. with that said, where is the best place to purchase an 02-04 motor and tranny. i got a quote from lamotta for $3296.84!!!! and thats just the engine, lol. its pretty much a direct drop in correct, just reuse my ignition and fuel rails. thanks guys

ya i am looking to do a pi swap and it would be kinda sweet just to do the entire motor swap all together. dohc or sohc which is more cost efficient

ya either way though if you look at it in time and dont do things twice then dohc seems better

im not exactly sure what it is. it cranks over fine but there is an apparent metal on metal clanking around somewhere, kinda sounds like the drivers side valve cover/cylinder area. its loud. its not a repetitive sound either, doesn't have a pattern to it. the car has probably 140k on the clock so i might as well through in a new motor and tranny all at once. i would like to do the PI swap because of the increase in compression but it would be cheaper just to throw in a whole new motor. would you all know a decent price to pull and reinstall a motor? i was thinking about $1000-1200 max.

not sue on price, but get a 99+ 4.6 pi engine. 4.6 DOHC will be quite a bit more work and money.

I had the same sound on my old motor and a rocker had popped off the follower. I thought for sure it was shot but it was fixed in an hour :dunno:. Never say die lol.

If it turns out to be shot you can give Pro Mar in Patterson NJ a call. You can get a forged PI motor for that price.

I would think a 450hp car would be low 12's high 11's. Properly setup and tuned. 425hp mid 12's and a good hp goal on a stock motor. Very respectful car in my opinion. I had 425 on my non pi motor and ran 12.75 and was happy with it.

where you located? I have a spare 4.6 shortblock sitting on my garage floor. Nobody's come and gotten it yet shockingly enough. 4k miles... just lube it up, look it over and bolt it up.

to get in the 12's... all motor BONE STOCK 5.4L 2v swap. Costs about the same as a 4.6 install and is 95% direct bolt up. couple minor custom bits. Greg knows wassup with that.
