If you buy a bulb with a 6000k or 8000k rating you'll probably get the look you want. May not be the brightest though. I ran Eurodesignz bulbs for years before switching to HIDs.

if they're not HID's, stick with anything above 8000K.
i'm running 6000K non-HID headlights that are barely showing a hint of white at night.

I think that anything less than Sylvania zXe halogen bulbs will leave you disappointed.
/thread...after my statement

I wanted to run HID's so bad but I wasn't going to give up my high beam. You can say "HID's are SOOO bright you don't need high beams." I've had both and halogen highbeams go further. I tried out the zXe's and I am VERY satisfied with them. I have OEM housing and they give off a nice crisp white and hit every part of the reflector.

zXe halogen bulbs are what $50.00? A proper HID kit that operates properly will cost $80.00 on the cheap side. You will be very disappointed with a $40.00 flickering HID kit.

-NO, You need BiXeneon Hi/Lo HID kit.
-As far as viability- 4300K is brightest, 5000K a little less, 6000K a little less ect.....
Hope that's helpful.?.
