Well went and put on new U joints today. Drove the car maybe a mile then got on it in first a lil bit. Nothing big about 3k maybe 4k RPM max. Then BOOM hear something let lose under the car and hit something. Pushed clutch in and costed to parking lot. Got under the car to see what happened the yoke had broke clean into 2 pieces. Anyone else ever broke one like this before my car has about 160ishK on it. Simple fix thank god made one phone call and had a new yoke for the T5 trans.

Will have pics tomorrow explaining better.
Also found out what ever aluminium driveshaft came with the car as an extrea is about a foot to long DS wise and about a 2inch to long on the yoke end. Oh well i guess.

Sounds about right.

Yes a press was used. When looking at it there was some stress cracks on the other side the stayed. Very very small. The other side was a clean break around the back round cap. I dont know how long the old owner drove it for while the front u joints was toast. Ive only put about 500 miles on it since i had it with bad u joints in. It is so great sounding and feel good with out the vibrations.

Also checked while under there to make sure i had 4:10. By marking drive shaft and marking the wheel to see how many times it turn the drivshaft it all checked out. Ive never drove a stock 3:55 carbefor so i was a lilworried he lied. Since the D/S i got extrea with the car was off something else.

3.08 and 3.27

I dont think 2.73 was used after 93
2.73 was the main gear used in our cars. The 3.08s were the options. Mine came with 2.73s and is a 5spd. basically ALL SN95 GT's have 2.73s unless the got the 3.08 option.

Mine had 3.27's stock

But on that note... I'm in need of doing my u-joints as well... I just want my car running smooth again :BangHead:

I would say with me being a shade tree mechanic. Meaning i do everything i know how on my own. Yes it was pretty simple fix. Had someone show me how to install the u joints cause i have never done them befor ever. Droping the DS was easy as can be. My old U joints was shot. I would say it would take a noob 2hrs. It took me and a friend about to install the u joint and show me how 1 hr or so. This is also because we had to go to get new u joints. Because we put them in the DS that was givin with car. It was the wrong DS. Im glad i had a warrenty on them to take them back. If you have general automotive skill you should be able to do this with no problem. Is easy as can be. I figured i would have been harder. Kinda of glad i did it myself.
