Broken Seat Problem

Hey everyone,

I got a nice project on my hands one of the biggest problems is the seat is broken. Its the frame hinges i believe. What have or would have other people done in this situation?

Oh im not the fat ass that broke it im 145 pounds!

I had a power seat that broke, I put manual fox tracks on it.

What were you lookin at for costs?

If you need a solution till you can fix your seat (get it welded, etc), temporarily swapping in the aforementioned manual track is one way to go. It should take less than 1/2 hour to swap the tracks if it's your first time. Then you can get the other track fixed at your leisure.

I ended up just buying the manual seat track in mine. I didnt care for the auto one anyway. Its a direct swap. You can even use your passengers side rails.

Its very common that the seat rail breaks. They are aluminum and mine broke once and i had a bracket welded in then it broke in the same spot on the other side so i just bought another one.

They stopped using the aluminum rails on the 99 to fix the issue.

Glad to know its a simple fix. Only one of the tracks is broken. Im thinking welding would be the way to go. If i weigh 145 pounds do you think i should worry about the aluminum?

Its not the weight of the driver, i think its more of how they sit and seat position putting tension on the bracket. Have it welded and maybe reinforce it with some steel and it should last a long time.

I see people flop into the car seat like its a trampoline so that shock on the aluminum is probably whats stressing most of the brackets.

Any seat/bracket can be put into any 79-04 Mustang. Being able to swap them around is a pretty sweet thing. The only problem is trying to go to power seats when the stockers were manual.

Consider being in an accident (getting rear-ended, etc) and the shearing force on the metal. Weld and reinforce for such an event, not static body weight.

also good to know. never swapped seats, oddly enough.... swapped everything else in Mustangs....
