Well as you all know i picked up a set of GT40p's and a Trickflow stage 2 cam the other night for dirt cheap. I am planning on getting the short block from 5.0 resto. Now a few things i have read over the past day is some say port the hell out of the GT40p's and some say just clean the bowl up. ?? What do you guys think. If i can get this Edelbrock upper and lower i'll pick it up or I plan on going with a GT40 Upper and lower ported and Polished. I will go with some Mac Lt's and a Catted H. I will try it out with my Ultraflo's first then i will try it with a set of SLP LM1's . Now help me fill in my little nicks and nacks. So give me some opinions guys. I never get the chance to go to the strip. And i know i could make more with more expensive parts but this is as Budget as i can get it. I don't want to spend a ton of money. I'm trying to keep it limited to about 2grand for everything. I will start on the drive train next year.

Block : 302 Roller Shortblock from 5.0 Resto
Heads : GT40P's ( bowl cleaned up or ported)
Cam : Trickflow Stage 2
Intake : Edelbrock or a GT40 Ported and Polished.
Headers : Mac Lt's
Mid Pipe : Catted H
Mufflers : Dynomax Ultraflo's

I know it won't be fast i'm not trying to make a Fast car. I am trying to make a reliable motor with parts that aren't going to break the bank. It should be a fun car with some nice torque.

The GT40 intakes are good intakes for the money from what I've seen. Good low-end torque was the reason I wanted one when I was building a motor.

It would be awesome if you could make a post or something about that 5.0resto shortblock. Im really interested to see the quality because im going to pick one up if they are legit.

Good luck with your build. Im going for the same thing with my car. Fun, reliable street car.

Our economy Mustang 5.0L short blocks are just the ticket for that budget build! Our remanufactured Mustang 5.0L short blocks start as good cores that are dissassembled, then placed in state-of-the-art, environmentally safe burners, followed by steel shot blasting to clean. The blocks are magnifluxed, inspected for cracks, bored and precision honed to manufacturer's specifications. They are then fitted with new, .030"-.060" over cast aluminum pistons and cast rings*. 50-oz. cranks are precision ground to recommended specifications, and micro-polished. These Mustang 5.0L short blocks do not include cam or timing chain. Each economy Mustang remanufactured shortblock includes a 90-day, 4,000 mile limited warranty**.

*Cast aluminum pistons and cast iron rings are recommended for naturally aspirated combinations only. Not recommended for superchargers, turbos, or nitrous. Always check piston-to-valve clearance when installing aftermarket performance heads or cams.

**Some conditions apply. This is a replacement warranty only. Labor and shipping costs not included in warranty. Overheating, abuse, or lack of regular maintenance may void warranty.
