Cam Choice??

Was thinking about getting a cam for my ride. My car is pretty stock. Its got a cold air intake, off road h-pipe, and 3.73s in the a*s. My question is what cam do yall think would be best for me? Im staying away from alphabet cams. I was thinking of going with a trickflow cam. The plans for the car are going to stay very mild since im a broke college student. I can hopefully hop on a set of used heads and intake here pretty soon but for now im just going to throw a cam in the car and knock out the more PITA job first(some of yall are prolly going to disagree with this and tell me to wait for heads also but im pretty mechanically inclined and can easily knock this out farely quick, so why not).

Im looking for a cam that will give me more midrange and top end power. Torque is fun and all but that doesnt last forever and pretty much does nothing for me at highway speeds. So any suggestions??

The steeda #19 seems to like higher rpms. I looked at comp cams but it looks like they dont make a very good cam for a stock application.

i dont see anything wrong with the aphabet cams, ive seen cars with an alphabet cam and bolts ons putting down some good power.

keep yer eyes open for summit, I got twisted wedge heads shipped for $1k and now I am just waiting for the stage 1 cam to go on sale somewhere....

X2 i like mine. My bet is 90% of the people that badmouth alphabet cams havent drove a car with one. Bench racing at its finest, imo.

My bet is that you havent driven something with a REAL cam.

Thats like people buying cobra intakes. why??? Save just a little more change and get something way better.

The E Cam can make power, period. Are there better cams out there?? Absolutely - without a doubt.

There is a local speed shop here called All Out Automotive. The owner, Kris had a 302 setup that was TFS TW Heads, Track Heat intake, E-Cam, and an S-trim.

Here is his dyno sheet. This is through a C4 Automatic keep in mind.

A Cobra or GT40 Tubular intake can make a lot of power especially down low, those manifolds are torque monsters. A little bit of porting goes far with those manifolds. Again, is there better out there? Of course, but too many people believe what they read without investing time into research.

Thats why my daily driven gets ~18 mpg mixed and runs 13.2 in the quater. With just gt40p/TF manifold/b303/3.73s . Yup you got me, no clue what im talking about.

Specs on your car? mines a stock botttem end @ ~178K stock car on street tires.

Ive seen your posts, i would hope your car would run that with the money you have into it. Im sure if i had a after market heads, tubular front end with skinnies and DR in the back, like you do i could go that fast too. all in all i have less than 5K in this car, you were trying to sell yours for what 10k?

your a tool, youve proved that in just about every post you've made.

You wanna keep this going, really? I have no problems with getting banned from this forum.. again

and yea, I WAS trying to sell it. Because my unit WAS deploying at Afghanistan. But since we aren't going now.. I'm keeping it and making it better.

Oh and on the specs, it doesnt really seem relevant right now since you have already started the bash war. Oh btw, My car turned your times with my stock engine too... whootpidy doo...

Show me high numbers without a blower please.

And im not looking for a whole lot of torque. I can already move out the hole pretty well. Im looking for something that will help pull up top. Maybe im in the wrong car but im a fan of horsepower not big torque numbers. All the torque in the world with zero horsepower to back it up isnt going to win me any races in the long run.
