The cam in question is the B-303.

Basically, I want to know about rocker arms. I believe (as far as I know anyway) I should have 1.6 rocker arms on currently (GT40 heads)

Can I run the b303 cam with 1.6? or do I need to go to 1.7?

also, if both are acceptable, which one is better? Will I get a lopey-er sound with one or the other? How about performance? (I'm not terrible concerned about performance here)

im also getting a valve spring/retainer kit from trickflow, if that makes any difference.

thanks!

1.6's work just fine with the b303 cam pretty sure that's what's recommended I know the e 303 cam calls for 1.6's

higher lift which usually gives you a little more gain. what Trickflow spring kit are you looking at? I have a 2500100 kit on my old heads I could pull off and sell ya.

1.7 RR's will give you just over .500 lift.. Just gives u more flow. It will basicly flow like an E cam.. Its not going to change the sound of the cam. Do u have 1.6 RR's now? If your motor is all stock besides GT40 heads then u probably wont utilize that much lift. What is your setup??

If your not worried about performance, then why even bother with a cam swap? If your just looking for sound unplug some vac lines and run the loudest muffler you can find. lol

I can't say for 100%, but a previous told me the following

gt40 heads, gt40 upper and lower tubular intake, e-303 cam (very doubtful) will also be running long tubes/x pipe/ctaback soon too. also underdrive pullies.

Have you bought the cam yet? If not, I personally don't like dual pattern cams and the B303 isn't a huge power making cam.

1.6 vs 1.7 usually adds about 30 thousandths of lift and a spring kit upgrade is a must with any aftermarket camshaft. The TFS kit that is sold for Ford Iron heads is an extremely good kit for the money, they come with Chromoly retainers too. You also want to get the correct length pushrods so make sure you get an adjustable pushrod and order the correct size and make sure they are hardened pushrods as well. If you're sure you want the B303, run a 1.6 rocker to be safe.

Letter cams are junk, you need to do way more research as questions like this are evidence of someone who does not completely understand how the valvetrain works. Not trying to be insulting or anything, just trying to save you some $$$ and headache. Also if your heads are still the stock E7s, then the stock cam is your best friend right now.

With the new cam you have to measure correct pushrod length and order the right pushrods as well. If you are serious about your build 1.6s or 1.7s should not matter at all as cam selection will vary depending on which one you are going with. A cam with 1.6 might flow more than one with 1.7s... all depends on the profile.
