At what position is the cam location dowel supposed to be at? 12:00 -- 3:00 -- 6:00 -- 9:00

The timing gear I have has 3 holes in it, for the cam advance, Stock and retard positions, and I already tossed my stock timing gear unfortunately.

Im going off memory, but it was 3 months ago I took the cam out, but I "think" it was at the 3:00 position with #1 at TDC?

Heads are off so I cant go by the valves......

If you line up the 2 points on the gears it should only fit one way. I want to say it's the 6 o'clock position.

That would normally be correct, but the cam timing gear has 3 different holes on the back that the location pin can go into. There are 3 marks on the gear to align for either stock, retarded or advanced timing. I screwed up and pitched the stock cam timing chain gear so I dont have a refference now, and I forgot where that pin was in relation to the cam being set at TDC.

Yeah I could degree my cam also but there's still a dot on each gear that lines up so that it's straight. I'm 99% sure the dowel goes down and the lil notch on the crank goes up.

Just call the timing gear manufacturer with the part number. They can tell you without guessing.
