I was looking at getting a new cam for the 5.0. I was looking at E303 or TFS stage 1, or even a F303. I was wondering what these cams are good for, and do I need to do anything else for these cams. And how do you guys like them if you used them.
Thanks

A cam is only going to slow you down if you have a stock Intake/Heads.

You have a 5 speed or Auto??

You'll need a torque converter too. The stock converter is not going to work well with an aftermarket cam at all.

I've looked and I can't seem to find a company that sells a torque converter for the AODE.

Well I would invest in a heavy duty converter now then, never wanna do the job twice.

What are you willing to spend?

Make sure you plan on getting a tune after your cam install. Cause theres a good chance on whatever cam you get you'll have surging/idle issues.

I read your post x182dan about your sugring idle problems, thanks for your help.
And what will I be looking at for a good torque converter? Im not a big drag racer it will be a daily driven/autocross car. So it won't really be a hard driven car.

Well I'm very satisfied with my Hughes Performance 11" 2500 stall HD converter. It rus about $500 but it is strong enough for any power adder and great for a street driven car.

J.R. Also does converters as far as I know...you may want to talk to him too.

J.R.? How would I get ahold of him? I was wol to go with a 2000-2500 stall converter. And you say 2500 works well on street driven cars, that's what I need.

2500 is not much different then the stock stall. it's useless to install a 2500 stall simply because stock is damn near 2500. 3000 is the best way to go.

This probably a sreally retarded question, but I'm new to mods. What exactly does a stall converter do?

Steven, according to Performance Automatic..a stock AODE/4R70W converter is between 1600-1800. They said they have seen both.

2500 is no where near a stock stall.

You can't say a 3000 stall is his best choice. There are so many variables that come into play..rear gear ratio, engine size etc.
