The Hedman x-pipe... I think they may still have these in stock. It is just "ok" It cleared the AOD but I don't love the clamp on X-section. I really should take it down and weld it, but it doesn't leak. It is worth noting I removed smog pump, thermactor, etc. Kept EGR tho.

Fitting the "Pypes" kit. I ditched the glass packs it came with in favor of 2-chamber mufflers. These kits are a bear to fit... I kind of wish I had just bought a Flowmaster American Thunder kit...

MM C/C plates... cheaped out on exhaust but spent a little here. WORTH IT!

Fitting the Bilstein's and H&R sports... Used the top ISO only(new poly) Front is not low enough, you'll see later. Good view of the clean strut towers. Previous owner lived on a gravel road and driveway and it shows. I did find some rust in the back where the gravel dust really collected.

Got one of those $55 ebay CAI... It really is not bad. A little fiddly. With a cold snack.

Mounted up Nitto 275/40/17 on some Cobra R reps I had(these wheels are so old that they are made in the USA!) Note- they are mismatched front to rear the spokes are a little different

looks like there is an alarm siren under the hood. Do you have the remotes for the alarm? If not it could be really easy to get the correct remotes and program them to work. Dealerships often just throw the remotes out on aftermarket systems as they do not know if a good job on the install was done or not.

Yes it was dealer installed when the car was new and fortunately the manual was in the glovebox. It is a Ford system and it works with the OE fobs(which I have)

I have a lot more pics I will post later. Car is at the alignment shop today!

ah one of the dealer installed code alarms. They did not do that for long as I think code ended up making the stock keyless/alarms as the remotes were just rebadged code remotes.

This is what the brake fluid looked like. 2 full bottles before it started to run clean.
IMG_3077.JPG
Front brakes are braided lines, stoptech rotors, and no name Cobra style calipers from RockAuto. Massive improvement in braking! Rear calipers were OK but I put Ford reman ones on anyway with new discs. Ceramic pads all around.

Here she is! Alignment shop got it right into my desired specs and only charged me $40! Drives and sounds great. Pretty slow but that's OK for now. Tailpipes are still driving me crazy I may tinker with that today.

Great to see somebody rescuing the old Mustang and doing a lot of nice work to it rather than somebody just running it into the ground and rusting away. I looked at a 1939 chopped Plymouth Coupe today. Started it up, got inside it and thought man, I can't use this to go to the grocery store... plus it was damn uncomfortable. Not fun to drive. Sticking with my Mustang!

Thanks!

A lot of SN95's have been run into the ground for sure... to the point where I really felt like this one should have been kept bone stock. But! It is a lot more fun to cruise in now, and I felt like these are all the same mods we would have done in the 90's anyway. 3.73 gears will be next, and I have an OE Cobra upper/lower for it.

The old hot rods sure have come down in price!

Yeah the old hot rodders are aging out. Young people these days just want their cell phones. My car is fairly stock except lowered front end, H pipe, cat delete, underulley and Flowmasters. I've resisted the urge to cut in to the dashboard to put a different stereo in. My interior is quite mint and I like to keep it that way.

WOW this is a really nice car! I dont see any rust in any of the typical places like shock towers. Congratulations!

I really love how this build thread is going!

Probably because young people have no clue how to work on an engine. Their definition of a mod is bolt on sealed engine, anything that doesn't require deep thought or "diy modification". So they do t want to touch them with a 10 ft pole. Or.. because if it isn't atleast 900 whp, it's lame.

I wish I got to do stuff like this with my dad when I was young. Your kid is very lucky to have a dad like you.

And amazing buy! I hate looking at my frame rails and seeing the rust.

Thanks for the kind words! We have been enjoying this car much more than my Cobra actually.

In a few months I will hopefully have some updates here when we do the next round of basic bolt ons.

Say, would you like a spare underdrive crank pulley? I have one laying around and I’m not really keen on going through Facebook marketplace to sell it (you know how awful marketplace can be), and I have no use for it. Little bit of rust on it, but I think it will be ok.

Completely free, just pay the shipping. Might not work the best with an automatic since the RPM is lower than a manual, but if you swap the alternator pulley to speed it back up some, it may be worth your while. You will feel an improvement. Nothing earth shattering, but for how easy these are, you can’t beat it.

Thanks for the offer! In all my years of Mustangs I have never installed a set of underdrives. I always had concerns of overheating or undercharging. For the crank pulley to be effective would it also need the water pump and alternator pulleys?
