Car died on me while driving, towed it back home and now begins figuring out what I need to fix, when I try to start it, you can hear the engine trying to start but it can't turn over and I know it can't be any alternator or battery problems cause those are both new and also I can hear the fuel pump prime as well to clear up anything, what should I check for?
:dontknow:

Have you pulled codes?
When your trying to start, is the engine rotating at the normal speed just not firing,
OR is it rotating slowly.
If it's rotating at the normal speed: as already stated the likely culprits would likely be the fuel pump or distributor. I would look at the dizzy first if it's never been replaced.

Yes it sounds to be firing at normal speed, just not firing so NO it's not sluggish and I can hear the fuel pump prime so?!!!

if you can hear it priming, engine is turning at normal speed, then that only leaves the following possibilities......

1)dizzy or coil
2)fuel pump isnt creating correct amount of pressure, check at fuel rail with a proper gauge...........sound doesnt mean its doing exactly what its suppose to.

3) and most important..........you were a little too hard on it last night and now its upset, give it a lil'kiss and rub on da rear bumper and see if that makes her happy!!

in all honesty, thats what my car did when the pick up went bad. factory 5.0 dizzies are notorious for that. check your wiring and for power at the coil and to the distributor, if its good all the way to the dizzy but not getting past it then that would more than likely be the culprit

I'd check for spark and if you have that I would say a clogged fuel filter. Start with the basics and work your way up.

Also, a few weeks before this happened, it sometimes needed a tad bit of gas to start the car up, or took a long time to turn over, if that helps narrow down the problem.

an idea would be a Crank Shaft Sensor especially if you had funny problems with it running prior to this problem.

does it fire at all?

after you let it sit over night try to start it and let us know if it runs and let it run till it heats up to see if it turns off.

can't turn over fast enough? check your ground and has your lights been dimming a lot when at idle?

There is no crank sensor on the Mustang 5.0.

Dan, I think you have a terminolgy problem too.
"turning over" is when you first hit the key and the engine starts rotating before you have combustion.
"firing" is when combustion is occuring or trying to start.
The engine has to "turn over" before it can "fire"

My apologies, I'm not the most technically inclined, but yes it turns over at the same speed as it would normally but CAN'T fire, a week or two prior, it needed a bit of extra gas to fire, now it will only turn over and not fire even with some gas.

94-95 5.0s don't even have a crankshaft sensor.

Paul.
