car shaking

my car started shaking like crazy. once it hits 1000rpm den it shakes like crazy. so i figure out doing my tune up. still doing the same thing....weird vibration. too bad. .......any ideas wats wrong wid it?

ck the harmonic balancer. the rubber squeezes out between the 2 pieces and you get a vib. you'll prob have to get on your back to really see it. YOU DON'T WANT IT TO COME APART WHILE DRIVING. really bad things happen

It's actually not that hard. Remove the fan and shroud; One big nut and washer removal (15/16", if my memory serves me correctly); Attach the pully removal tool (rentable at autozone for a fully refundable deposit) and tighten - old balancer should slide right off; Install new balancer; then tighten everything else up in the reverse order.

the Haynes manual has a decent explanation w/ pictures.

is it safe to drive it for now? cause i have work..... and im thinkin mayb its d engine holder loose?

haha this happened to me in my probe, it SUCKS. after i heard the explosion sound of a piece hitting my hood, i looked in my rear view and saw this huge hunk of harmonic balancer fly 20 feet in the air while most all my dummy lights came on.

You should replace it or have it replaced right away. A spun balancer throws the engine out of balance, which can wreak all kinds of havoc if left unchecked for a long time.
