Scored the deal of the century on Facebook Marketplace but have some questions…

The rears are 15x10, I was told in order to clear the rear Cobra brakes I would need a Maximum Motorsports 99-04 Cobra IRS brake line kit as the banjo bolt and block are shorter and that I would possibly need to grind the caliper. Looking to confirm.

Also trying to decide between ET Street, ET Street S/S, and Nitto NT555R2. It’s not a daily driver and only comes out on the weekend or evening in good weather.
15x10 rear is a small diameter wheel and i managed to get them on the 05
i had to take the shock bracket cut a little and move it up a tad, so it wont scrape inside wheel
i do have nittos on them its a lot of side wall that tucks under

So, my understanding is that the Cobra rear brakes are big enough that you need both the maximum motorsports 99-04 IRS rear brake lines as they have a shorter block/banjo bolt that will clear... I will also have to grind down the caliper slightly. My car doesn't have quad shocks so no issues there... and while I have tail pipes the exhaust is dumped currently. With these things done, I shouldn't have any issues with the rears clearing.

Weld recommended 215/45/17 or 225/45/17 for the front... I'm leaning towards wider in the front, as it's mainly a good weather weekend streetcar and I'd like to preserve braking distance and street driving.

Maximum Motorsports advised the block on the right rear brake is a double outlet that feeds the rear driver side. So I can use their kit without cutting the hardline and installing a t fitting. I’d rather not go this route… so please help me with options.

I’ve seen some recommend SN95 GT caliper brakes, rotors, and pads which seems easy but a friend advised the bracket requires removal of the axles to install. Not sure which is correct.

I’ve seen some people say to just run a spacer…

Then some grind the shit out of the banjo bolt but clearance still seems tight and I don’t like the idea of difficulty removing it in the future or potential leaks.

So, it sounds like I would need to remove the rear axles in order to use the GT backing plate to run GT brakes... since I don't autocross I don't think I would see any real-world diminished braking ability.

The only alternative would be a 1/2" MM spacer with Moroso 3" extended lugs... but I may still have to remove the axles to get the lug nuts through the back of the hub due to the speed sensor.

Thoughts?

Not knowing exactly how much room you have, I personally don't run backing plates and have room for longer studs. However, if you have to remove the axles (you will for GT brakes, caliper bracket) then it's easy to put anything in. I'm not a big fan of running spacers. If you have room to install the studs, that's easy. Pound the old ones out and pull new ones in, either with a tool or nut/washer style.

I think I’m the same… my preference would be to “do it right” and pull the axles and run a brake that clears so no spacers are required.

The spacers alone are $140… if they were cheaper I’d probably be ok with it.

If you pull your Cobra caliper brackets off, I'll buy them. PM me. I know I'll be needing a set at some point this summer.

Looks like the previous owner already ground the banjo bolts.

It also has MM 1/4” spacers which make sense as the SVE drag wheels have I believe 6” backspacing.

So if I get the 1/2” spacers and extended lugs everything should clear fine!

i dont like spacers
you do what ya gatta do
I mean I’d prefer GT rear brakes but with 3” Moroso studs and Maximum Motorsports spacers I think it will work fine for now.

I don’t think MM would sell an unsafe product… they got super pissy recommending anything when I told them I have no front sway bar.

We can trade brackets if you want. I need the Cobra, and you can have my GT brackets
