When i figure it out, You'll be the first to know.
Hey all,

I just noticed today when i went to start my car, the idles ramps to around 1500, the CEL blinks 4 times then goes out, then the idle drops to around 800, Then theres the CEL coming on after i have been driving for 5-10 and then stays on, but you guys know about that already... The car runs fine, no mis fires,,, no power loss....

Any ideas?

Don.

That's quite strange. I usually change the coil when someone tells me their CEL is blinking and it clears it right up. did you pull the code?

I don't have the ability to pull a code, no reader, or hanyes. Do you think a coil could be the issue, that's the little box with the one wire coming out to the center on the disrib?

You can buy an OBDI reader from Summit for about $22. The DTC port for the 5.0 GT is in the engine bay passenger side between the strut tower and firewall. I would get the reader before throwing parts onto the car. Did you clean the MAF when you did the minor tune-up? The engine to battery ground needs to be solid as all engine sensors rely on the ground connection.

I wasn't the one who installed the motor, so i can't answer that 100%, I did clean the MAF last year before i pulled it off the road....I will check the batt ground tomorrow as well... I live in canada, so stuff is a bit more money here...I will look into a reader and see if i can pick one up...Thanks for all the replies guys, Means alot...this car means the world to me, I have put so much time/money and energy into it... and it being my daughters as well....I just don't want to risk damage to anything, I'd rather be safe then sorry.

You can also look on amazon if you want the OBD1 code reader as well.

We completely understand your concern.

Well I got fed up i checked all the connections, wires, and whatever else i could get my hands on....Everything is tight. So i took it out for a boot, and I was brutal with it, a few burn outs and high rev shifts, the motor ran flawless, No misses or lack of power, felt and sounded great....So I think i need to save and buy a reader....

On my way back something in the rear end started to make a ton of noise, I am thinking it is the diff, as the fluid is leaking preatty bad, I Have all the stuff to replace and refill the diff cover, I'll do that on monday and update as to wether the sound is gone...I hope i didn't do any prem damage as i did do a few burn outs :( I have never been hard on my cars, it was very unlike me to be so brutal but i had to know if everything was okay *sigh*

Hopefully you didn't rip the spider gears to pieces.

Yeah I sure hope i didnt do anything bad, I am hoping the noise is just from low fluids. I'll know more tomorrow...But if i did do something, just give's me an op to install new gears LOL!....I do need it on the road for tues to see if it will pass etest.

RZ5.0: No all the emmsions stuff is still on the car, the only thing that is diff is when i had the headers installed they had to relocated the EGR pipe, Its a bit higher on the header...Would that make a diff?

my car does this as well... i start it up it revves up and blinks four times and etc... did you figure it out?

Not yet, i am working on it, I have some ppl telling me it's nothing, and others telling me it could be a miss fire. IDk, I really need to throw a reader on it, and see what codes i get...Right now i need to get the caliber fixed and my etest done LOL!. then i will work on the little things
