my buddies got a 98 gt im lookin to beat and id like to know my chances against it.

his mods arent that extreme nore are mine he other than he has a 4.6 and his 5 speed has been swaped for a 6 speed not sure what kind and hes no pro either so i know he doesnt know all the shift points, hes got 4.10 as i do, and a full exaust with just like me with a offroad x pipe and flows. MIne is a 95 gt but its auto with a shift kit and full exaust and 4.10 also. id like to think my chances are good but i really dont know and would like yalls imput

and also not sure how much it matters but as far as i know he doest have a performace tire as i have bf goodrich kdws and i get pretty good traction even with the 4.10

i think your chances are good but whats going to kill you is the auto u get a good drive behind his you are going to have your hand full but it should be a go race let us know what happens and good luck :banana:

you should be fine in a 1/4 mile race from a dig, if ya'll go from a roll he'll kill ya in the top with that 6 speed

Why is everyone so damn worried about beating an '04 GT, or a '98 GT... there are so many people on this board who's so worried about beating somebody else... here's the thing. I've got a buddy with a '97 GT, i want to know who's going to win... I'm not going to ask a bunch of people(sorry guys) who's going to win. it's my car and my buddies car, they don't know what either one will do. for all they know, my '95 GT with a 150,000 mile motor may pull more or harder than other '95 GT's, so what i'm getting at here, is all you guys stop sking, get your ass out there and find out. post up AFTER you've raced, and let us know how it went...

he used to but he just got his car back the engine was shot and had to part all his goodies out to just get a engine back in there so really now his only major mod is the 6 speed, but really he didnt have much mods before that.

No, you're going to let'er rip and afterwards good or bad, THEN you'll post up and let us know what happened...

Yes, but you don't bring a knife to a gun fight. The guy wants to know how he stacks up. Nothing wrong with wanting to know the odds.

well considering its 2 mustang...with minimal mods...its gonna be close..

94 vs 98 mustang. Theyre pretty close to being equal in stock form.

so auto vs 6 speed one. I think the 6 speed should get the win if he can drive.

I am so at a loss to why everyone thinks that just because that man's car has a 6 speed that it has some major advantage. Being a manuel has an advantage, but it wouldn't make much a difference if it was a 5 speed, what you gain with the 6 speed is closer ratio's, but the disadvantage is that you have to shift earlier and one time more then a 5 speed and you can make or break a race depending on the shifting. Now this guy's 5.0 has a shift kit in it with 4:10's. 5.0's produce more torque off the line, a 4.6 needs it's revs high to make any torque. My vote is to the 5.0

Well fortunately for him his friend HASN'T pulled up to him on the street yet ( which I don't care for street racing). So there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking about the odd's.
