have a 1995 gt, i just changed my distributor last night and everything went well. but when i test drove it and went over 3000 rpm, the engine shut off and it wont start. i played with the distributor turning left and right to check if it starts but no luck and the battery died already. whats a good way to adjust the timing?

did you pull the spout when you set the timing? also make sure the rotor is pushed all the way down

for it to just die like that means it obviously lost spark or fuel. And having spark problems already because you replaced the dizzy, would lead me to believe its bad.

once it stopped, i was stuck on the street. so what i did was play with the timing without the light. just turn it left and right....and it started for a minute but the engine sounded weak...

Just pull the cap and wires off or atleast out of the way, pay attention to where the rotor is pointing so that you can line it back up, pull the rotor off, unbolt and pull out the distributor, and then slide the new one in, pop the rotor on to make sure its in the same spot and then cap with wires back on and bolt it all down.
