changeing gears?

I have 373 in my 95 cobra with trick flow top end kit. I hade 410 in my 01 bullitt and I miss the snap I got from them.
Dont know if that is to much for 5.0 and t5 trans I notice most go with 373 will I be sorry if I change?

I was wondering this also and was thinking about 3:90:1 gears as I have to be able to drive on the interstate (the nearest drag strip is 2 hours away).


What rpm are you 5.0/T5 4:10 guys at @ 70 mph???

you'll be fine with 4:10's I have them. I'm turning about 2000 rpm at @75mph. 1st gear is almost useless on the street.

Keep in mind about the race track...you don't wanna run out of gear before the end of the track.

I know but the track is also about a 2 hour drive away on the interstate. :crybaby2:

Thanks for the replys. So how far do you think I can take 4th gear with the 410. In my bullitt I could get
about 112 at 6,ooo rpm do you think my car will get that also?

i did the cal and i got the same for 3:73's and 3:90's too never heard of anyonen around here using the 3:90's just 3:73 or 4:10 although a buddy of mine with a 98 cobra just went from 4:10's to 4:30's!! have to ride in it to see what thats like lol

Im going from 410s in my auto to 373s I will just do a 50 or 75 shot to get that pop back. I would rather have it around 2600 at 70 mph rather than the 3000 its at now.

no way, I'm guessing your speedo was not corrected for. 2000rpm @ 75mph = my stock 3.08 gears. now with 3.55's i turn 2400rpm @ 75. with 4.10s you're lookin at ~2800rpm.

you are SO full of shizz... like Onyx posted. 4.10's put you around 2800rpm's at 75mph

I think I'm gonna try the 3:90s. 2k @ 70mph sounds a lot better then 2.5k @ 70mph. Cursed state. 3 drag strips and they are all about 2.5 - 3 hours away and the good ones are in IL. =(

the 98 cobra is going to be NOTHING like your car gear wise. those NEED gears because they can wind to 7k!

3.90's will not get you 2k@ 70mph.. 3.08's will though!

I know the 4.6s can rev a lot higher and can use the extra gears. Although where did I mention a '98 Cobra??

Right now with 3:73s I am running about 1700-1800 rpm @ 70 mph. According the gear calculator with my tires and transmission I'd be about 2500 @ 70 mph with 4:10s and that is too high for me for how far I have to drive to get to the track. So I figure I'd go with 3:90s and be somewhere in the middle.


With 3:08s I'd be almost idling at 70 mph. I don't even think my car came stock with 3:08s. My friends AUTO fox body did.

Not to cry like a little bitch but no one answeard my ? in my 95 cobra with a t5 and 410 will I
get 112mph in 4th@6000. more power is not an option right now so im trying to get the most outta my
car. but with that said if I do a blower or n2o I think id be screwed at the track,not enough
rpm,mph. what are all your thoughts.
