Anybody done this? Ive one 12inch sub in the trunk and wanted to get more out of my door speakers while keeping them on the Mach 460 amps. What ohms would the replacement speakers be? If i got a componet set would i be able to change the tweeter on the door?

you can not swap speakers and run them off the mach amps. they are different ohm ratings. i tried it before. they WILL cut out randomly.

here's a site that will give you most of the information on the mach 460/1000

The mach 460 amps arnt all that special, a good aftermarket headunit will power the speakers cleaner and better then the 460 amps. If you dont have a aftermarket headunit I would get a alpine then go for some nice door speakers probaly in 6.25"

if you want to use aftermarket speakers with an aftermarket headunit, you need to bypass all the factory amps. its not as east as it is on most vehicles

yeah I heard it can be kinda tricky but I think Best Buy has a special harness to do that. Thank god I didnt have Mach 460. But couldnt you just wire up the headunit then run new wires from the headunit to the speakers?!
