Changing Fuel Pump

I want to change my fiel pump. How Hard is It? Any good write ups on this? Is

put a jack under the center of the tank, unbolt the filler tube and get it out the way, then unbolt the two bolts, one on each strap, drop those down, and lower the tank down by lowering the jack. Unplug, use a screw driver and a hammer to turn the run, pull the pump, and replace. Then put it all back together. It's pretty easy

if you can find a brass punch to use to remove the pump that would be a lot safer ( brass is nonsparking and gas is really flammable)

i'm doing this same thing right now. how do you remove the filler neck? I got the top unbolted, but where it connects to the tank, i can't seem to get that to budge at all.

i'm pretty sure it stays connected to the tank. after you unbolt it at the top put a rag in the hole to keep the dirt out and lower the hose down with the tank

ok, i thought i had read somewhere that it could be taken out. I just can't get it to siphon all the gas out (filled it before the pump went out), so i guess i'll just use two jacks on each side and a board to help stabalize the tank.

just be careful when lowering all that fuel can get to shloshing and dump out. fp's always go out when you just fill up. just be glad it's not a suv. my suburban has a 42 gal tank
