Hey all, so as the title says my 3rd clutch since I bought the car last fall is down. I was driving and I noticed the clutch pedal stiffened up as I was switching I to third. As I pressed the accelerator I noticed the clutch slip slightly but it caught. As I come to the next light and begin to take off the pedal was really tight and it was tough to get into gear...and then snap! The pedal goes to the floor. This is the second time this has happened. The clutch was a brand new stage 2. I don't know the make as my mechanic took care of the order and install. Any suggestions on why this could be happening?

So your clutch cable broke? Not your clutch, right?

Could be a number of problems:
- clutch cable has improper tension on it, not enough slack to go to full release
- main bearing retain is galled up, preventing the throwout bearing from traveling along the retainer smoothly, which causes bind, which can make the cable break
- clutch cable routing is wrong
- clutch cable is chinese garbage
- clutch quadrant/firewall adjuster is not adjusted aprpriately

...and so on and so forth.

Well to be honest Im not sure. It is pretty much stock to my knowledge.

Oh wow... ok. When I first got the her, there was a chirping noise and when I pressed the clutch pedal it stopped. I believe took it to my mechanic and he said it was the throwout bearing going bad. So he put in a new clutch kit and flywheel as he said mine had hot spots. A week after the instal the samething happened as I was switching gears. So he switched brands and went with a stage 2.

Something sounds fishy. Even a shitty box store clutch kit should last on a stock, street driven 5.0 a long time.

Did he show you the old parts?

sounds like the first clutch wasn't broke in properly and he reused the original malfunctioning cable. Replace cable and I think you should be ok...as long as the rest of the quipment was installed properly.
